ppv picked Jane Eyre (Jane Eyre):
The same reason. She is not that awesome as others are. I love all Austen's heroines and I admire Margaret. And Jane Eyre is just okay for me in compare with others.
But I know that it's not to be overrated. So I don't know at all.

Angria picked Elizabeth Bennet (Pride and Prejudice):
Hmm...still love Elizabeth, but as usual, when someone mentions Austen, people jump automatically to Lizzy because it is the only character they know.

Jane is in a whole other category. As well as Margaret. You should add more Dickens, Gaskell, Eliot, Hardy, etc. to balance out the Austen. I don't really think this list (or the male) is fair to the two non-Austen characters. People are going to choose them merely to defend Austen, rather than who is actually overrated.

AnnaKay19 picked Elizabeth Bennet (Pride and Prejudice):
I agree with Angria. Lizzie is the end-all-be-all for a lot of Austen fans and that to me makes her overrated (not bad just ill-used by the masses). To me the others are rarely mentioned when placed in comparison with Elizabeth Bennet. It's pretty sad! :(
