I could write a book about how much better Claudie Blakley is as Charlotte than Lucy Scott. 1995 Charlotte is very pretty and elegant, so it's not believable that she couldn't find a husband better than Mr. Collins. The 2005 version is homely and shy, much more like Charlotte is described to be in the book.

I agree entirely, although you said it much better than I was going to. I was just going to point out that Lucy Scott is very pretty and I doubt she couldn't do better than Mr. Collins.

It was a small part....but the scene with Charlotte and Lizzie talking about her situation regarding mr collins...the eyes....fabulous!! if you havent seen or dont remember...watch!

I agree that Lucy Scott was too pretty to play Charlotte, but as an actor she did an excellent job. They were both believable to me.

this one was hard to choose, but I say Lucy... I think... as others have said that she is too pretty, well I think that... Claudie is too pretty *gasp*
seriously though, I got the impression that she didn't have that much against mr Collins, while Lucy made it perfectly clear both in how she talked about him and in her body language, that she didn't want him.

Claudie's a better Charlotte. I think Lucy was, maybe, too 'pretty' to play that character.

95 one was so weird, she had a weird frowning face and was always so "high and mighty." it wasn't clear why anyone would want to be friends with her, whereas in 05 the relationships made sense. also she wasn't pretty at all in 95, but she wasn't "plain" enough considering the difference in each girls appearance and level of beauty was so important in the story.
