My favorite Spike seasons are BtVS season 2 and Angel season 5.... so this was hard- but ultimately I think BtVS season 2 was Spike at his best and there was a lot more of Spike on BtVS than on Angel- so I have to go with BtVS.

I hated the way he was written on Angel. It was a huge step backwards for the character. He was relegated to comedic relief mostly- so as not to steal the limelight from Angel.
