By far! Balthazar is nothing more than a wanna-be Trickster IMO.

^ Word. I liked him at first but I re-watched his scenes recently and now i'm just like 'GABRIEL .. come backkkk!' :(

And the actor who plays him .. it's like he's trying to become Misha. It's actually really off-putting.

Because he's Gabriel, and the Trickster and he's just flat out amazing. I really see no further explanation than that.

I have noticed a lot of people hate Balthazar and say he is nothing more than a wannabe Trickster, but I don't really see it that way. He has a lot of Gabriel-esque qualities about him, sure you can't deny that, but he is a lot different too I think. I still love Gabriel FAR more than I like Balthazar but I don't dislike him.

Also I've been a fan of Sebastian Roche for years, so it kind of bugs me when people say rude things about him because he is an incredibly sweet guy (I have many friends who have met him and can attest to that) and he genuinely loves the fans. I don't think he's trying to be like Misha at all, they have similar personalities and from what I can tell are friends...but that's just my opinion. To each his own.

As you can see, I still picked Gabriel...and can I just say I miss Richard Speight Jr. like crazy! :((

^Just because I say that Balthazar is a wannabe Trickster doesn't mean I have anything against the actor who portrays him. Honestly, I think it's the writer's fault that he's so much like Gabriel. And I wouldn't say I hate him, I'm just not impressed or interested in the character.

I don't think you have anything against Sebastian at all, if that was implied I apologize because it wasn't intended that way at all *considers erasing clearly misinterpreted post* I meant in general people say a lot of rude things about him, I was not speaking about anyone in particular.

I do agree that I think it's the writers fault that he seems so much like Gabriel too, I feel like they wanted to bring Gabriel's snarky attitude and frenemy-relationship with the Winchesters back without actually bringing Gabriel back (maybe they questioned if having God bring Gabriel back diminished Cas' importance or maybe he was too powerful an ally for them to have, I don't know) so they brought on Balthazar to kind of take his place. I think it's a poor replacement for Gabriel, who really was incredible, but I'm okay with Balthazar on most scenes and maybe it is because he reminds me of Gabriel a bit and I severely miss that snarky arch angel!

But yeah, I think you got it just right. The writer's wanted to bring back the element that Gabriel brought to the show but decided for one reason or another that they couldn't bring back the actual character. And I can understand that.

However, the character of Balthazar actually could play an important and different role than Gabriel; I actually wish they would make him more different. I'm kind of the opposite of you. The more he seems like Gabriel, the more irritated I get. I want him to be his own character, not a shadow of Gabriel. And really that's all he is...so far. I'm hoping that they'll give him some more detail and individuality in future episodes.

i love Gabe he had some of my very favorite episodes out of the show i miss him ALOT!

Ohhh @fanfly okay, yay, I'm glad that is cleared up! I do agree with that. And I can understand that definitely. I am also hoping they develop Balthazar more as his own individual character because I think a lot more people would get on board with him then. Maybe in the episode next Friday, since he'll be in it, that will start to happen and we can understand his motivations more clearly and get to the heart of who he is as a character. *fingers crossed*

I know the entire fandom is totally in love with Gabriel but... I'm not. As the trickster he was funny but then when he turned out to be an archangel, I was surprised but ended up disappointed. He was killing people just because he didn't like them and because he could. To me, it showed that he wasn't that different to the other archangels in the show and I didn't like that. I know he helped with the rings but he did it only after his death. It took a while for him to help at all. He was cowardly.

At the moment, I don't entirely trust Balthazar but at least, so far, he's been honest. I find him mysterious and interesting. I can't wait to see more of him.

^ I agree. I like Balthazar better. I really don't see the hype about Gabriel. I really didn't like him when he played all those tricks on Sam and Dean and he just annoyed me sometimes. He did redeem himself later, but the cons outweigh the pros imo.

i like them both but for now gabriel cause i agree with twilighter4evr he made some of my favourite episodes!!! and he did die helping them so hes also a hero!!

i love the actor who plays balty but i don't trust the character, balthazar...i love gabriel..he's the most human of all the archangels...and the actor is great...i hope to see him again...and i hope that balty will not be a "bastard"...

I never liked Balthazar. Plus, he wasn't on the show long enough for a solid story line.

Love them both but Gabe more. They're my two fave angels, following Cas. <3
