They can....the FBI in Jus in Bello - Dean said he'd probably been Dead for a long time. Plus we don't know if the host is dead we just know Sam made Lilith leave/die.

We know that dead bodies can be possessed, like dead bodies can be possessed, like SG1-090 said in Jus In Bello the FBI guy was dead, and its been said before that as well. We also know that the girl Ruby was possessing is dead, Bobby shot her when they first met, she said that he should test the colt on her so he did. I don't think that there is any way that girl is still alive. But that doesn't mean that Ruby can't possess her again next season!

i reckon ruby will be back in her normal body, if shes different, i reckon she would tke good care of her hosts body (i reckon after she was shot, she probably got the bullet out and looked after her body)
