The Heroes of Olympus Article: Jason's godly parent theory

Jason knows the Roman name for storm spirits and satyrs, demigods (as far as I know) use the greek names for gods, monsters and what not. So what if his godly parent was a Roman god, one with out a Greek equivalent. I did the research and sadly all Roman gods have a Greek equal.
My volgende theory was that Jason's godly parent is the patron god/goddess of Rome of that they have something to do with Rome. These are the possibilities (If u believe my theory)

Ares- Ares is considered the patron god of Rome because he was the father of Romulus who was the founder of Rome.- I don't believe this is it because we know sons and daughters of Ares and as far as we were informed they don't use (maybe even know) the Roman names.

Angerona- Angerona is the goddess of secrecy and the protector of Rome.

While neither of these explain the air supporting him thing, (maybe Zeus of one of the wind gods were feeling generous and decided to save Jason and Piper) it is still something to consider.

RoHeHa_6264995 Hi bleu22. I like the Angerona idea, but as you said yourself, it doesn't explain the flying bit. And in my opinion, there aren't any Roman gods. The Romans' ancestors are Greek, that's where they got all those myths. But when they left Greece after the Trojan War, they decided to make up new names for the gods, and that's how the Roman mythology was born. My theory about Jason using Roman terms is he lived somewhere near Italy before he was transported to Wilderness school.

bleu22 I agree it is a bit incomplete, and I think the reason why I couldn't find any Roman gods (ones not in greek mythology) would be because there aren't any. Though I have to ask, if Jason lived in Italy wouldn't he speak italian, and why would he know about all the mythology stuff if supposedly there is no one in Italy to tell him about it. Oh and don't the gods stay in america most all the time? Maybe Jason is a minor god...

HecateA They're gods, they must get tired of staying in one place eventually, and it is near the Mediterenian. And he might have forgotten about speakign Italian and all.

RoHeHa_6264995 English is an international language. Do you think Italians don't speak English? And Jason was mentioned in TC, so he used to be at CHB. He only moved to Italy several years ago, so it doesn't affect him much. Or maybe Mnemosyne, the goddess of languages AND memory did something to him. Wait, didn't Chiron say the gods had stayed in Europe before going to America? They were in Italy! Remember all the Italian artists? Maybe when the Olympians moved to America, some minor gods decided to stay, including Jason's dad. Yeah I like that idea :)

bleu22 We don't know for sure if the Jason mentioned in TC is the Jason in the new series. Jason is a fairly popular name. And if Jason's dad stayed in Italy then Jason would've either never learned about gods and monsters or he would've gone to CHB and learned the greek names. I'm really starting to consider if he's actually a minor god and the mistress in the second chapter took his memory away. That would be a major twist, Rick Riordan did say that a big twist wold end up in this book series.

RoHeHa_6264995 In the series, yeah. But not the first book. Gleeson Hedge said Jason smelled like a demigod, so I don't think he can be a god. Unless Gleeson's mistaken. R.R said in an interview that he started planning TLH while he was writing PJO, so there must be hidden clues in PJO books. Besides, that Jason in TC was a fast runner and so are the Boreads, so it kinda makes sense. And as I said before, the Greek and Roman gods are the same, just different names. So Jason learnt everything about the immortals when he was at camp, then he moved to Italy with his dad (because Boreas didn't have a cabin) and got used to using Roman names. That's my theory.

HecateA I think that Jason's mom told him about the ROMAN myths. In case of an emergency, he'd know how most of the monsters get detheated and stuff, but its not Greek, so if he relates to whatever Boreas' roman equivalent is, it won't increase his scent (I think).

RoHeHa_6264995 Hey that's a really good idea, Hecate! I never thought of that! Yeah, that would be a perfect way to protect Jason from the monsters! But still if he was at CHB, he must have known about the Greek names.

HecateA inless for some reason the myths stuck in his head but he only remembered the first myths he was told.

RoHeHa_6264995 Yeah but he would be the only one at camp who uses Roman terms, so the other campers would recognize him easily.

LASTERW Okay, my theory: If you go to The Heroes of Olypus website (the disney one), you'll see a picture of Hera under the characters. In her discription, it says soething about her being able to change into Juno, her Roman equivalent. If she can change into her Roman version, why can't all other gods and goddesses? Answer is this: They all can! Here are my thoughts: Jason is the son of Jupiter, the Roan version of Zeus. I think that Zeus, being his famous sly self, used his other form as a loophole in the agreeent with his brothers. This also explain's Jason's coin and why he knows only Roman names. Leo is probably the son of Vulcan, Hephaistos' Roman version, or Mercury, Hermes' Roan version. (I only say the Roman equivalent's to follow the theme.) And for Piper.... I have no idea. Maybe Aphrodite, Hera, Demeter, or maybe their Roman versions. I really have no idea! I hope I could help anyone!! (And please don't hate it even if you don't like it! Remember, keep an open mind!!!)

(if not keep the muffins anyways) I like the idea of the loophole, but I don't think that they are all children of roman gods IF the roman gods are even in this (*crosses fingers no*) And Vulcan's Greek form is Hephaestus. Hephaïstos is the French name for him do, so you weren't far off. :)

windrox101 I like your idea Hecate, but i am wondering why he lost his memory in the first place. does anyone have any ideas?

halfbloodmama I am only on page 108 but it seems obvious to me that Pipers FATHER is the god.

eneya i love your idea's!! they are great theroy's your are right about a couple things...i am a ROMAN FREAK!! jasons godly parent is a patron.. it is jupiter..if u read the later on books it explains how jason has this tatto on is arp that says SPQR and has a lighting bolt it also later conformally states that jason is a son of jupiter/zues whateva u would like to call it...so i hopped this helped

Ah, fan fiction... What can I say about fan fiction? Its a great escape when done properly, and perfect for those oh-so-long periods between books. So, for those of u who write these great escapes, there are rules, just like the rest of the spot, that need to be followed. If you'll kindly read below we will go over these simple, common sense rules, and then u can get back to writing!
