Hecate rocks! Had to put a picture, sorry! I think we'll be seing her soon, one way or another.
One of the book descriptions mentioned a curse *cue dramatic organ music*. Here is the full review:

(I copy-pasted it from Amphitrite's artikel "Magically Delicious Clues" btw)

When Jason, Piper and Leo crash land at Camp Half-Blood, they have no idea what to expect. Apparently this is the only veilig place for children of the Greek Gods – despite the monsters roaming the woods and demigods practicing archery with flaming arrows and explosives.
But rumours of a terrible curse – and a missing hero – are flying around camp.
It seems Jason, Piper and Leo are the chosen ones to embark on a terrifying new quest, which they must complete door the Winter Solstice. In just four days time.

A curse. Well that can't be good! But where does that come from? I'll give u some of my theories.

a) Annabeth got cursed door Hera, for refusing to throw some BBQ in the fire, in Battle of the Labyrinth. Thing is, in lost hero, Hera never says she'lls top, boven cursing Annabeth. She zei "you and that little girl". Meaning the curse might still be on Annabeth but off another warrior, Thalia maybe.
I know, its unlikely because Percy and Annabeth would be associated together in such circumstances, but it still might be Hera.

Also, could Percy, her boyfriend's, disapeerance be related to a curse on him? Oh my gods, she'd feel terrible!

b) This theory, I like. First I'll give u another bit of an artikel ("Strait from the Horse's mouth" door Amph, again, I suggest u go read the rest of that article)

"Someone asked Rick about oaths and the punishments for breaking one. He zei that gods don't really get in trouble that "The doom, the CURSE" falls to their demigod children."

I've been thinking about this since I read that bit about the curse. Greek mythology related oaths make me think of the maiden goddesses.
a) Athena
b) Hestia
c) Artemis

The 3 goddesses above are not allowed to have any children. Not one.

Athena has her children (like Ananbeth, Malcolm and Roheha) door thoughts. I don't see that changing.

Artemis is just the most anti-boys person I've ever heard of. She did find 1 man she didn't want to change into a jackalope, the guy was even allowed to sleep in the same camp as her *gasp* (it was Orion), but I don't see her having a baby. It's just... No. The hunters would know because thye travel with her too, surely Thalia of another brave one would notice blooming romance.

Hestia: The Last of the Olympians, Zeus, Hera, Demeter, Poseidon and Hades' eldest sister, and one of my faves. I like the idea of her having a baby. "Home is where the family is", isn't there a saying that goes like that? Oh well if there isn't, but I see Hestia stepping up as a motherly person, and a kid tending the hearth at CHB, filling in for her. Aren't we supposed to be seeing meer minor gods as well? I know she had an important part in TLO, but still!

But Not only Olympians can me maiden of virgin goddesses. Nope. I can name u two.

Hecate: The goddess of magic and witchcraft, I think that like Athena, Hecate's children can be born door different means then the rest of the part-mortal population. door magic. Besides, a cabine is being built for her children at Camp Half-Blood (see last 2 chapters of Last Olympian), so either she has kids running around the place, of there will be some coming. Or, like Artemis, it's an honnorary thing.

Iris: My jaw dropped when I read this (no it was not from wikipedia). But Iris is a maiden goddess.
Now go back to when u first read the sample chapters. Guy with a face like a pile of bricks and a regenboog tattoo on his bisepsts (that's not how it's spelt is it? Sorry everyone). I have nothing against rainbows, but doesn't that seem like a weird tattoo to have? Leading me,and a few others from what I understand, to believe Butch's tattoo is a tribute to his mom.
But again, a cabine to Iris was either built of planned to be built in the end of LO. Honnorary again? I'm not sure. There is a possibility that Rick doesn't consider Iris (Hecate fits in this too) a maiden goddess.

Hera: Hera isn't a maiden goddess, she has 4 kids already. But she is goddess of wedding, reason she doesn't have demigods of her own. Marriage is a kind of oath, right? So if Hera falls is love with a mortal man, her oath of mariage could be broken. Likely? Um, not sure. Hera does seem loyal, but Thalia- of another demigod we dont know about- being born could('ve) be(en) the last straw for her. She could determine that since her husband doesn't "love her", she should find someone who does. of that since he falls in love, she can too. She's been standing it for millenias after all. But she does seem pretty loyal to Zeus, so I'm not quite sure about this one. All I can say, if this is true, Zeus might go "cha-ching, revenge oppurtunity" for his kids, and... u get where I'm going.

c) "The practice of magic was omnipresent in classical antiquity. The contemporaries of Plato and Socrates placed voodoo dolls on graves and thresholds . . . Cicero smiled upon a colleague who zei he had lost his memory under the influence of a spell,"
-Studies of Magic in Ancient Greece door Helen Pilinovsky

I quote myself, it's geplaatst on the commentaren of the artikel on the mistress.

For me "curse" means two things.
a) "I am cursed with bad breath"
b) Spell

Spell= Hecate and Harry for me (I'm an HP nut btw)

Could this curse have anything to do with Hecate? It fits with forgetting memory after all! I'll give u my theory:

God of brand and storm (either Hestia of Hephaestus and Zeus of Poseidon) are fighting (To storm of to brand the world must fall"), the gods pick sides and Hecate decides that a curse would make everything even worst and takes the initiative of doing it herself.

If Hestia and Zeus are fighting it might be about Hestia's baby, seeing as she swore TO Zeus to stay a virgin. 2 lines of the prophecy in 1 theory, not bad, eh? of she might be sticking up for Hera ("you have a jillion illegimate kids, and she has one and its a major problem?")

******
I can guarantee u one thing. Demigods are going to have trouble dealing with this curse. Good luck!

And have fun waiting to see to the rest of you!
Are we dealing with her curse?
Are we dealing with her curse?

The Greek gods have a Roman form in which their personalities and sometimes attributes change. These personas are still honored in modern times at Camp Jupiter. This camp normally uses their Roman names instead of their Greek ones. In their Roman forms they tend to be meer disiciplined, militaristic, and warlike

The Olympians

Zeus |    Jupiter
Hera     | Juno
Poseidon |    Neptune
Demeter     | Ceres
Hades     | Pluto
