Yes. I'm fourteen, and there was nothing innapropriate in the novel. I think your daughter would lovve this book, expeciallt if she liked any of the Twilight Series.

There's some violence, but nothing brutal or grotesque. No sex. It's pretty tame. Unless your daughter is easiely scared, or scared of the idea of aliens. It's all good.

My [former] middle school English teacher and sometimes-mentor, who now works at our local book store, was the one to recommend this to me (though I'd have read it either way), and she said that she reviewed it as a YA novel, and I can easily see why: though The Host is more able to appeal to a mature audience, nothing here is beyond the grasp of an adolescent, and there's definitely nothing inappropriate. I've read genuine YA novels FAR more risque. ;D

i had to go back a couple times to fully understand everything but i think its reallllly goood

If an 11 year-old can read it, so can a 14 year-old. Stephenie Meyer doesn't write anything she wouldn't let her kids read.

there is no sex but there are a few steemy kisses and some violance but it all depends on how meture the kid is

I can't think of anything really inappropriate in the book. As stated before there is some mild violence. It's definatley tamer then the Twilight Series.

THE HOST IS AWESOME!!!!

I started reading Twilight Saga at 16 (sort of grew up with it because I'm almost 20 now). Meanwhile, children younger than 14 have read the books. Plus, Breaking Dawn insinuates a lot more adult situations than the Host. So, if they have read Breaking Dawn...there's no point in withholding the child from reading the text. It's amazing, you should definitely take a peek.

YES, I'm 15 and i did read ~The host~ its not even that bad...their's not sexual stuff in the book at all...their's only kissing but nothing more then that. Its a really good book, it might be confussing for some people when they read the first few chapters but when the get really into it then they start to understand, with me i understood it right away but some of my friends didnt understand it at first so i had to explain but at the same time make sure i didnt give any special details away.

There is little hints at the end but nothing compared to breaking dawn and it is one of the BEST BOOKS EVER SO SHE SHOULD DEFINATLEY READ IT!

Now a days if you can get a young person to read, Let them read what they like to! This way they can make a decision what they truely love to read!!!

it's SUCH a great book...and the only thing I can think of is a bit of violence. Maybe violence against women during some parts as well. but if you read the book first you'll see what I mean and you'll beable to mention someting about it if you'd like. Otherwise...she'll love it!

it was SOOOO good! and i was 10! but the beginning is kinda confusing. my sister had to explain it before i got it

It's okay for her i read it when i was 14. I honestly don't think 10 year olds should read it though
