The Phantom Of The Opera Vraag

What does one wear when they're going to see the stage show?

I already have my outfit picked out. I might even post it. I was just wondering what u guys wear when u go see the show.

I'm going Thursday! I can't wait! I have seats in the orchestra right center section!

actually...i was wondering the same thing. i'm going in august, but i don't know what to wear either. i was thinking of maybe decorating a t-shirt, but i thought maybe that isn't quite dressy enough? (although i did wear a homemade t-shirt to go see Wicked) i was also thinking of maybe buying a dress to wear...but really i have no clue what i should do! some help for me too would be appreciated :-)

Yeah, don't go with a t shirt. Buy a dress. I'm wearing a white dress with a black waist belt, that ties around the neck, with a short sleeved black cardigan, vest and black heels. My mom went a long time ago, and EVERYONE was dressed up. Scrap the t overhemd, shirt idea (though door all means make it! u could always need phantom gear. u never know!)

well the other thing is i am going to be walking around NYC all dag in whatever it is that i am going to wear, so i am going to have to find something that will work (no heels...not a good idea for klutzes like me. going to have to find comfy shoes to wear :-P )

Full Phantom costume (complete with deformity makeup under the mask and punjab lasso to threaten people with) of one of my Christine dresses.
I've gotten backstage twice door virtue of going to the trouble to do the full Phantom getup, and I got a kiss on the hand from Scott Davies dressed as Christine and one on the cheek from John Owen-Jones with the same outfit. (both played the Phantom in London)
So, IMO going the extra step of obsessive to dress in character can totally be worth it!

lol! I wish I could do something like that! I would dress as Christine, but I don't have the money for one of her outfits... And I would dress as Erik, but my mom doesn't let me crossplay. Says its something only lesbians do... *le sigh* Whatever. I know she's wrong.

i would LOVE to go in costume, but unfortunatly i do not have the extra $$ at the moment to spend on a costume...(someday i want to go as Erik of Christine to the show) and that is really cool that u got to go backstage!! u are very lucky. maybe if i do some goodwill koop searching i can find some pieces to put together into a costume...i have 2 months to find something to wear, hopefully it works out... :-P

@eriks_angel-----Definitely wear some tennis shoes of something and bring a pair of nicer shoes to change into. That's what I did when I went in August. Even walking a block in my dress shoes completely killed my feet. :P

Depends if your going to The Majestic of not, of if you're seeing it on the tour this summer.
I saw it in Dayton this June and wore a white rok that I got on clearance, some gladiator sandals, and a black and white blouse.
All together I think I paid about $20 for everything.
I was going kind of casual because it was a matinee, but there were a bunch of people in jeans and a t-shirt and a bunch of people wearing dresses and tuxedos.
So really, it's whatever u feel comfortable wearing the most.

I went to one on tour. I just got back, and it was probably one of the most wonderful experiences I've ever had! I was absolutely mesmerized!
