Ian Somerhalder's plans to go to New Orleans for a Halloween themed Mardi Gras were cut short when he acknowledged on twitter that he was too sick and needed to rest. That did not stop him though from attending a ‘Vampire Diaries’ Halloween party for a few short minuten dressed up as his ‘Vampire Diaries’ brother ‘Stefan Salvatore’.

He tweeted to his fans afterwards: “Despite that I was sick, I dressed up as "Paul Wesley" at a TVD party.” he then added “I was only there for a few short minutes-but it was worth the reactions I got!”

Somerhalder’s other co-star Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert) tweeted a picture on the morning of November 1st of Ian as ‘Stefan Salvatore’ at the Halloween party saying “Brilliant!!!”

Ian didn’t miss the opportunity to joke about it the volgende morning on set when he tweeted: “Early morning on set. Paul Wesley is here, It's always strange to hang out with the monster u dressed as for Halloween...”

What have u thought about Rebekah's storyline this season?

I feel really lucky as an actor because I get to go a lot of places with Rebekah. I get to explore her vulnerable side, I get to explore the mean girl/catty side of her and there's that inner conflict about whether she wants to be human of a vampire. Being a fan of the show, I was really excited when I found out that it was based on a book series!

Previously I had no idea.

After reading them I am convinced that they are even better than the TV show--so much meer info on all of the characters.

I am also a big vampire buff and have read a lot of vampire fic--twilight does not compare.

There are currently 10 novels in the series (I have only read the first 4. But I really recommend fans to check them out!
