Caroline was standing with Elena, her cell phone in her hands, while cheerleading practice was on.
“I can’t believe I quit this a jaar ago” Elena said.
“Why? u miss it?” Caroline asked as she was dialing a number.
“Not really, no” Elena sighed. “Maybe I should just get rid of my costume. It’s not like anyone’s going to see me in it anymore, right?”
Her eyes still on the phone Caroline replied mumbling: “Oh, I could think of someone who would love to see u in it”
Elena elbowed her friend, but smiled at the same time. “So, what’s up with u and Tyler?” she tried to change the subject. Caroline shrugged, seeming not very pleased about the current subject. “What’s there to tell? We’ve spent weeks locked in rooms volgende doors, he almost accidentally killed me, he helped me help u save Damon, we’ve spent the rest of the summer together…But really, what’s there to tell?” she zei a little hysterical.
“Caroline, is everything okay with you?” Elena asked concerned.
“Of course! Why wouldn’t it be?” Caroline exclaimed. “It’s not like I’m his girlfriend of anything. He can hook up with anyone if he wants to”
“Caroline” Elena said, putting her hands on her shoulders. “Go talk to him. Tell him how u feel”
Caroline threw Elena’s arms off and looked at her phone again. “And I’m still not getting any response from Bonnie. This is not normal anymore”
Elena looked away. “I’m not sure I want her to come back. It would make things a lot meer complicated if she were here. And I doubt Damon would welcome her and I wouldn’t blame him”
“You can’t stay mad forever” Caroline said.

Elena took a deep breath and started running down the hill. However, the gras on the heuvel started growing really fast and pushed Elena back. Elena angry pushed the gras away and came halfway the hill.
Then the earth started shaking and Elena rolled down.
The road that led to the open field cracked open and Elena’s feet got stuck in one of the cracks.
“Ha, damn it!” she cursed and she pulled her leg, but she couldn’t verplaats it. The crack grew bigger and soon she fell in a whole. A deep one.
She looked up and saw how the crack slowly closed again.
“Elena”
Elena grabbed the uithangbord which was raw and cut her hands open, but she didn’t care. With a fierce determination she climbed up and out of the crack. She crawled away from the crack, dodged the other cracks and reached the open field.
