He’s the new kid on the block, and he’s HOT. Jesus made his big debut on the Feb. 21 episode of ‘The Walking Dead.’ To get you up to date on this new character, here’s 5 things to know about Jesus!

, Jesus. The highly-anticipated character finally made his first appearance on the show, and we already want to know everything about him. Here’s 5 key things to know about the new character. Warning: Spoilers ahead!

1. His real name is Paul Rovio — on the show. 

Paul Rovio made his introduction on the Feb. 21 episode. However, everyone calls him Jesus. In the comics, Jesus’ real name is Paul Monroe.

In the comics, Jesus is a resident of the Alexandria Safe-Zone who moved to another community called the Hilltop Colony. He’s a key character in the gang taking on the evil Negan.

Executive producer Robert Kirkman revealed in 2014 on Reddit why he Jesus is gay: “In my opinion there should be more awesome gay people in fiction because there are plenty of awesome gay people in real life. I want Jesus to be a character where his sexuality is as unimportant as Rick or other heterosexual characters. So we won’t focus on it constantly and it won’t be the focus of any big storylines for him… but he’ll make it with a dude every now and then… before going out and drop kicking zombies. He’s one of my current favorite characters.”

5. Tom Payne loves that Jesus is always in control of his situations. 

. “He is physically and mentally capable, but is careful not to reveal his strengths too quickly. He has the measure of people pretty quickly upon meeting them and is always thinking about the best way to handle any situation he finds himself in. I’m very much looking forward to exploring the character further with the audience. It’s an exciting road ahead.”
