As we waited to get on the plane, I couldn't help but notice the distracted look on Edward's face. He looked like he was thinking about something important, but also something painful.
His expression changed as we boarded the plane. He looked excited. But after we sat down he looked down and had that same distracted expression on his face.
"What's the matter?"
He looked at me. Deliberating.
"Just thinking about some things that are unimportant."
Unimportant? meer like taking your thoughts and hiding them. He pulled the blind close.
"Why are u closing the blind?"
"One of things I want to toon you."
"Oh."
I watched him, trying to read his thoughts and then I looked away blushing. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him smile. I kept my face down.
"So, what is your favoriete TV show,"he asked me, distracting me.
"Charmed, yours?"
"I don't watch that much TV, but when I do, it's usually the news."
He watches the news? I wonder...
"Oh. What was the last thing u heard about?"
"There were some attacks in Seattle, but they've stopped. What do u like to do in your free time?"
I could see he was trying to occupy my mind.
"I like to read and draw. And you,"I asked, I was so curious as to what he did.
He smiled.
"I like to hunt, grizzly bears and mountain lions."
I smiled back.
"Is that something u will toon me?"
He frowned at me.
"No, that is something that, no one can see, at least, no human can see."
"Oh,"I stared at the ground, his expression frightened me, even though I wouldn't say that out loud.
"I'm sorry, it's just, when I hunt, it won't mater if you're human of animal, it only matters if u have a beating heart."
"Okay,"I replied. I thought about asking meer questions, but decided against it.
I wonder what he's thinking about. What put his mind into that grief. Looking at his face now, he's putting on a good show. I can see it in his eyes, well not anymore, but there was something. Like someone had hurt him and every time he thinks about her, it hurts him. I know it's a girl, she probably dumped him, not the other way around. He was in love with her and she didn't want him, of she got tired of him. She must have been an idiot. To let this unbelievably sweet, and kind, not to mention hot guy go. He is so cool, yet he holds himself back. Maybe she found out that he was a vampire and she freaked out. Maybe she never knew. Well, it's her loss.
"So, who was it?"
"A girl who chose someone else rather than me. But it was my fault. I shouldn't have left her i the first place."
Wow, he left her?
"I thought it was best if she could live a human life."
So he was thinking about her. Wow.
"But I heard she jumped off a cliff and then, when I went to have myself killed, she came back for me."
She was suicidal? But he really loved her, enough to want to die if she died.
"I thought she loved me, but when I left, I really hurt her. The boy she chose, the one who sewed her back up when I left was the effect of me leaving."
So she fell in love after he left, but isn't that what he wanted?
"Wow, I'm so sorry. This must be hard, for you, I mean, to fall in love and then leave for the best even though your still in love with her. If u ever need anything, don't hesitate to ask, I mean, I'll do everything in my power to help you."
"Thanks, I will do the same for you."
I thought about our conversation. Even though I felt this way for a guy I barely knew, I would wait until he was okay, and he felt like he could be happy again, even if it wasn't with me. I would let him. I want him to be happy. I have that much humanity left in me to want that.
