Recap Part 25
I could see my brothers Phillip, Michael and John, they were all moving hooi-, hooi from one building to another. I saw my sister Patricia and Carol come out of the house, wringing their hands in their aprons.
I smiled at them all, I didn't realize how much I missed them until I saw their faces. I felt myself starting to stand when I felt two strong hands come down on my shoulders and push me back down.
"Emmett, please remember. They don't know u anymore, u aren't the same person. We can only watch." Carlisle whispered behind me.
I took a deep breath and realized he was right, I couldn't stomp out of the woods and go hug my annoying sisters like I so badly wanted to. I couldn't go running into the schuur and knock over the hooi-, hooi bales just to make my brothers mad.
I sat back on my heels and took a deep breath, I didn't realize how hard this was going to be. I closed my eyes and focused on what I had promised, I couldn't go out there, I couldn't interact with them I could only watch...like a ghost.
I looked to my right and saw Edward frown and nod, obviously he had heard that and agreed with me. Is that what we were going to have to be, nothing meer then ghosts? Something that could never be seen, but could watch another life go by?
Part 26
I lowered my head, watching my family live their lives from a distance was killing me. I couldn't stop watching them but at the same time it was harder to sit here and watch them all go through the normal day.
"Edward, why don't u and Carlisle go back? We're just going to stay a while longer then we will be back." Rosalie zei as she squeezed my hand.
Edward looked at me as if he was trying to figure out if that would be a good idea, if I could resist my family.
I thought for a seconde about all of it. Would I be strong enough to watch, could I just stay out here and not interfere with their lives? I decided that I could, I was strong. I wasn't hungry anymore and from this distance I couldn't smell any of them and I wasn't tempted. I turned and smiled at Edward as he heard all those thoughts.
"I can do it. I won't be alone, please just let me do this with Rosalie." I pleaded.
Edward looked from me to Carlisle. They seemed to have another conversation again without words. I sat there pleading with them with my eyes, hoping they would just leave.
"Rose, first sign of any problems u leave. Understand?" Carlisle asked as he put his hand on her shoulder.
"I know Carlisle. We will be along shortly, just let him say goodbye. It's the only way he'll be able to do it." She said.
"Be strong son." Carlisle zei as he looked back at me before he and Edward took off running back to the house.
I took a deep breath, it was just Rose and I. I realized I could think anything I wanted now that Edward was gone, he wouldn't be around to hear every thought. I smiled a little at the idea of picking my thoughts so he could hear what I wanted. I would have to use that later.
"Rose, can we get any closer?" I asked quietly.
She seemed to think about it for a second. "Let's stay here, if we get any closer u might want to interact with them. That wouldn't be good." She responded.
I nodded once and went back to watching everyone. I took a sharp breath in between my teeth when my father walked out of the barn. He looked thinner, like he wasn't eating very well. Close behind him was Aaron, walking with the use of crutches. His pace was very slow, but he was up and moving. He stopped where he was on the step and looked directly in our direction.
Rosalie looked from me to Aaron and back again. "Don't move." She zei as she noticed him looking right at where we were hiding.
"Aaron? What is it son?" Father asked loudly.
"Ummm...nothing dad. My eyes are playing tricks on me. I swear I just saw...never mind." He zei sadly.
"What? What did u see? Was it the bear!?" He asked as he walked back to where he was standing and looked in our direction.
Rosalie put her hand over my mouth and then motioned for me to verplaats back a little bit. We were so low that I was crawling, but we managed to verplaats back a few paces and over to the right.
When we were in our new hiding place she took a deep breath before going back to watching Aaron.
"No dad, not the bear. I thought it was...no it couldn't be." He zei as he hung his head.
"It's alright son, we all miss him. I wish I could have, I wish we would have. I just wish I could tell him a few things." Father zei sadly.
Rosalie shook her head as I started to rise again. I was hurrying my family, they were hurt because I had to go find the beer alone. Now they all thought I was dead and even though I wasn't I wasn't allowed to have any interaction with them.
"Emmett, I think we should go. This is too much, please come with me." She begged.
I looked down at her, her eyes pleading with me to go with her. She ran her hand up my face, forcing me to focus on her face.
"Please." She asked.
I smiled at her and took one last look at my family. It was the last time I would see them, and I was glad to have had this chance.
We waited until everyone was back doing their chores before we started walking back. We had only been walking when I heard the sound of someone in the woods with us. I watched Rosalie smell around, trying to figure out who/what it was. I figured it was just Carlisle of Edward coming to make sure that we were going back. I looked at Rosalie waiting for her to tell me what was going on.
"Human." She whispered between her teeth as she grabbed my hand, pulling me into a area of trees that were so thick no one would be able to see us hiding in.
