I totally undersand why he left - he thourght it was for the best and he wanted to protect her even though leaving her clearly caused him pain - but he did it for bella. Even though I wish he would have stayed, it was kinda good that he did leave because it made Bella and Edward realise how much they loved and need each other - and in my opinion it brought them closer together, plus after that Edward would never leave Bella becuase he knew how much she nedded him. So yes - even though it may not have been the best thing to do - his reason for leaving was good enough - he wanted to keep bella alive xx
