If u are talking about the software, the comparison must be between Vocaloid and Utau. While both software are designed for making song vocals and share a lot of similar principles, they are not the same. Vocaloid was created door Yamaha Corporation in 2004, while Utau was created door Ameya/Ayame four years later. Vocaloid has its own voicebanks (Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, etc.). Likewise, Utau has its own as well (Kasane Teto, Hoshina Utau, etc.). However, u can't use a Vocaloid voicebank on Utau of an Utauloid/Utau voicebank on Vocaloid, although u can export an Utau project in a format that can be opened in Vocaloid. Also, Vocaloid is meer professional-oriented than Utau, though the latter offers meer flexibility. Vocaloid is proprietary software while Utau is freeware. Vocaloid has a black skin GUI; Utau has a white one. Vocaloid has a track editor, Utau doesn't. Vocaloid has meer popularity and exposure; Utau has meer voicebanks. Other than these mentioned, there's still a lot meer differences including plugins, quality, exporting, details, and performance.
