Well, here comes a game even I wasn’t expecting to talk about till I played it. When I was surfing through the indie titles of the Nintendo Switch when I had little to no games for it, one game that caught my attention was The vrienden of Ringo Ishikawa. I remember hearing there was a sort of River City Ransom esque game and I thought it was this. The trailers made it look that way. Little did I know that I was completely wrong. And despite that, I couldn’t be happier with what I had played.

The vrienden of Ringo Ishikawa follows… Ringo Ishikawa, a young Japanese high school delinquent who is the leader of a group from his school, consisting of five of his other friends. Together, they hang out, beat up rival schools, and just think about their futures. While the story isn’t terrible, far from it, don’t expect things to pick up until the near final part of the game. At the start, u are gegeven tutorials for beating people up. u can grapple, block, and throw a stempel, punch and a kick. Simple mechanics, but depending on what u do, u can learn all sorts of new moves to beat up rival schools around town just for the fun of it. I say depending cause u will not be able to do everything in one playthrough. The vrienden of Ringo Ishikawa is set on a real time dag and night system. Think Persona but u get to go through the entire day. u can do whatever u want throughout the days. If u wanna make some extra money, u can get a part time job and work throughout the day. If u feel like doing better in school, u can attend classes and study to get straight As and a scholarship. If u want to learn meer moves to do better in combat, u can train at the dojo. of u can just merely dick around town for fun, beating up guys and finding your vrienden (or ringo ishikawa). While the game is a beat em up, it is not all you’ll be doing. Hell, I doubt you’ll be fighting half the time unless u want to kill some time. Just wandering around this small Japanese town, seeing the different residents of it, going to the park, the docks, the underpass, the fields, the shopping district, the bridge, and the houses, it all makes it feel so alive. Just like Night in the Woods, I really like small town settings in games, and indie games pull them off perfectly.
That being zei however, this game does have some problems. Being made door a guy in, not Japan surprisingly, but Russia, the game has a few translation errors. Not too frequent to ruin everything, but when u see it, u just can’t help but notice it. But the real problem comes with the glitches. Ringo getting stuck between spaces, enemies appearing in places they don’t belong, the muziek cutting out for moments. One really beneficial glitch I had was when Ringo just stopped needing sleep up until I got him knocked out in a fight. It made studying real easy and I just abused that up until I couldn’t study no more. The glitches aren’t terrible, but one of two will require u to restart the game, which can be annoying. Another thing is that the game is really vague on what to do. Sure, it doesn’t hold your hand, but with all these options for u to do, u will be wandering around the town a lot at the start just trying to figure out where u can go. And some items are just baffling to me. u could be reading a book the whole day, only to find out it was nothing. And the goud chain u purchase… I don’t know what it does. Apparently it does something, but it’s never stated.
Thankfully, the problems are only minor, aside from a couple of annoying glitches. But the one thing that doesn’t become a problem is the story. Despite it being not being told too often, once u get it, it really grips you. Ringo is a troublesome child. He isn’t stupid, and he doesn’t have problems to deal with. His problem is that he just doesn’t care. He doesn’t care about his future, his successes of anything aside from being a tough guy with a 16 bit pompadour. His friends, however, are moving on. From having relationships with girls they’ve known for years to trying to go into college to training to be professional boxers, they all have dreams and desires and something to look vooruit, voorwaarts to. Ringo doesn’t have any of that. And I won’t spoil the ending, cause god knows the creator would rather people experience it themselves, but all I’ll say is u can be a straight A student, a hard working youth, a black riem karate champ of just some kid. It will all end the same for Ringo and there is nothing u can do about it. It’s just a part of growing up, of rather, Ringo’s blind ignorance to do so. And I don’t think I’ve seen that story told often in these coming of age tales. The desire to not grow up, to stay young and ignorant.
The vrienden of Ringo Ishikawa isn’t perfect door any means, what with the glitches and the rather odd use of royalty free music. But it is a gem regardless for the ton, the variety, and the story. It’s a game that I was happy to stumble upon on the Switch. Hell, I’m glad it’s on the Switch in general, considering it didn’t seem like it would get that kind of love. Now if only some RPG Maker games could get that support. If u are looking for a well crafted set of story and characters with a few bits of beat em up action, The vrienden of Ringo Ishikawa is for you.

It’s the Halloween season again, a time to walk around my local town like a creep, traumatize children with my stupid antics, and also talk about films that critics hate but has a passionate fandom surrounding them, of at the very least, the general audiences hate. But that isn’t the case with our first film (The first introductee to Cultober II and I’ve already lied to everyone). A classic among horror fans, and even Michael Jackson himself, who took inspiration from the film to work into his own muziek video for Thriller, one of the most populair muziek videos of all time. That’s right,...

u know what’s a setting that indie developers really seem to like? The cyberpunk genre. I’m not complaining, I love that stuff too. But I have like three games played that are cyberpunk, and I am pretty sure I have meer waiting to be played that are also taking place in that setting. And naturally, I thought I would review the one I played first on here before the others. And low and behold, it is one that many people have talked about before, VA-11 HALL-A, pronounced Valhalla.

VA-11 HALL-A is set in a cyberpunk world, where corporations decide the fate of humans, where everyone...

Oh yeah, it’s time to talk about some character action games, some of the best of the medium, and what better one to start with than the king of them all, Devil May Cry. of rather, the first one, the weird one where Dante was clearly a Blade of Neo rip-off and the camera sucked a dick. Regardless, still an incredibly fun game.
Devil May Cry follows Dante as he goes to kill demon king Mundus on a secluded island consisting of marionettes, shadow beasts, Nelo Angelos and also something about him wanting to fuck a look-a-like of his mother. Allegedly wants to fuck his mother, granted. Now,...

Well, here’s the first of many, many, MANY sprinkhaan video games that will appear on this list. I’m a big fan of the niche, what can I say? So being one of the later games from their bibliotheek that I played, I only saw a few pictures of it and knew it was a sprinkhaan game. Needless to say, I was sold on the game. And despite it all, I was happy for what I got. Cause damn, Killer is Dead is probably one of the nicer to play sprinkhaan games out there.
Now, sadly, I never got to finish all the side stuff in this game and didn’t get to experiment with the game much, so sadly, I can’t...

Before we get to the part that takes place in Equestria, we are going to look at a new character in this series. Wind. He is currently in Hyrule, and the king wants to talk to him.

Wind: *Standing in front of the king*
King: *Sitting in his chair* u sir, are the worst person in this entire kingdom.

Now, I’ve probably lost some credibility among the highterups of the horror community for liking the gorefests that are slasher films. Now allow me to sullididate my place as being a shitbag in the horror community with no chance of ever taken seriously again. Along with slasher films, I also like zombie films. Granted, to a lesser extent to slasher villains. At least there’s some creativity to slasher villains, while most zombies are just the same. But thankfully, we’ll be looking at a film that does things a little differently. That film would be 1985’s Return of the Living Dead.

Well, here is a film I was never too proud of when I first watched it. I remember watching this film back in middle school. I heard it was among some of the best slasher films out there, alongside Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And yet, when I watched it, I thought it was really lame and overrated and couldn’t understand what people saw in it. But, after watching this movie years later, and getting a new idea on it, what do I think about it now? Well, on Cultober, let’s take a look at the 1996 slasher classic, Scream

No meer Heroes 2 does things… differently from the first game. Gone is the overworld to explore. Gone is the unique enemies of every level. Gone is the chance to collect trading cards. And gone is fun mini-games. But hey, at least now we have some pretty cool bosses… For the most part. While No meer Heroes 2 definitely falls behind the first No meer Heroes in some instances, it makes up in others, such as story, music, and even some bosses. And with the addition of fifteen bosses in the game, it makes sense that there would be some great bosses… And some stinkers too. So that is what...

u know, though I have been reviewing horror games for a while now, it’s been awhile since I reviewed a horror, of at least, a horror-themed rail shooter. The last one being a jaar ago, and that was… Rock of the Dead. Kind of regretting my look on that game, to be honest. Which is weird, because there are a few good horror rail shooters out there. Hell, House of the Dead was made on that premise. That and bad voice acting. But hey, speaking of bad voice acting, Resident Evil is a pretty good horror game franchise. (What a shitty segway). So, when u put the two together, what do u get?...
