“…And this is a smoke pellet. It’s great for making an escape.” Tony looked at me and smiled. He was 18, like Shane. Also, he had brown hair that looked almost identical to Shane, except the fact that his was longer. The only difference between Shane and him, was that he had glasses and tan skin. Shane and I were both pretty pale. “Nice!” I complimented. I had been helping him for the past 4 hours just helping him create some new gadget. “So, are u going to tell me why u need all this?” He asked. I smirked, “Tell u later.” He groaned exaggeratedly. “Fine, but at least keep in touch with me through the Bluetooth walkie-talkie. ‘Kay? ‘Cuz even though Shane isn’t here anymore, I still think of u as my little sister.” “Yeah, yeah, whatever genius.” I teased him. He put an arm around me and noogied me. I laughed and pried him off.
The sun was just starting to set. I was on the pier, just walking around. It was empty, even though it was a perfect day. “Everything’s fine so far.” I zei quietly into the Bluetooth. “Ok, just stay alert. u still know that martial arts from when Shane and I were in that group, right?” Tony said. “Yep. I’ll talk to u later, ok?” Before Tony could answer, I turned the volume all the way down so that I couldn’t hear him so I could focus meer on my surroundings. Though there were no people around so far, I could hear a few voices coming from behind one of the cargo boxes. Silently I crept closer and closer to it, making sure not to be heard. They were on the other side from where I was.
From my pouch filled with all the things Tony had gegeven me, I pulled out something that was supposed to pick up conversations. I clicked it on and put it in my other ear. It was a male voice, “…Artemis, Kid Flash, and Robin will check the perimeter.” There were 2 groans. Artemis was definitely one of them. The voice continued, “Superboy, Miss Martian, and I will zoek for the bomb.” I turned off the device and put it back in my bag. “Bomb?” I whispered. Maybe that was why the harbor was so empty? I decided to shake off the idea of what Artemis was up to, I was going to find that bomb. Stupid antics like that was what killed innocent people like that, innocent people like Shane. A tear rolled down my cheek. I quickly brushed it off and pulled out my cell phone. With a smirk, I dialed Art’s number. And she picked it up. “Hey Art, whats up?”
“Um, nothing, just kind of busy. Do’in homework.”
“Oh, cool! Can I come over?”
I walked around to the other side of the cargo box to where the group was, still smiling. Artemis gasped. “Yep. Homework.” I said. The entire group consisted of teens. One of them with green skin. “What is this? Is this why you’ve been acting weird lately?” I questioned. She looked away. “No meer secrets ‘kay? Spill it.” It was a demand, not a request.
After Artemis explained everything to me, and I met the rest of her so called team, she said, “Now u know.” She seemed ashamed to say it. “Art, this isn’t something u need to be ashamed of. u know u can tell me everything. I’ve been your best friend since the 2nd grade!” Tears came to her eyes and I hugged her. "Do I get a cool superhero name?" I joked. She smiled, "Well, since u are an empath, how about we call you..." She thought for a while, then said, "Vision." “Cool!" I replied, then said, "Now, what’s this about a bomb?” I asked quietly. “Joker gas. A bomb was planted somewhere in the harbor.” The one called Robin said, examining a holo-watch. “No progress so far.” Superboy said. “Well, have u checked the cargo boxes?” I suggested. “Not there. The map doesn’t even toon any signs of anything. It’s kind of… turbing.” Robin added.
“It’s because there isn’t anything.” A voice came from the shadows. A voice I immediately noticed. She stepped out from the shadows into the low light of the lamp post. “Cheshire.” Aqualad zei with obvious hate. I was confused, “No, Art isn’t that your-“ Artemis cut me off with a pleading look. I didn’t care. I already knew it was her sister.
