Young Justice Article: Angel of Vengeance Chapter 7

Chapter 7-

Alexa banged her fists on the uithangbord of the jail cell in anger. She had tried to spread her molecules out and walk through the wall, but Batman had some special handcuffs on her prohibiting her powers.

"Shhh!" a voice whispered. She turned to see the Boy Wonder standing in front of her jail cell holding the bars.

"What? Come to rub it in?" she asked.

"What?" Robin asked. "No!"

"Then why are u here?" she asked.

The lock melted away and Robin swung the doors open. "Cameras and guards are disabled. Lemme help u with your handcuffs."

Alexa reluctantly slid her hands in front of Robin and he began his work at undoing them.

"So why are u breaking me out of jail?" Alexa asked.

"You don't deserve this. u didn't know that they would betray you. That Joker would use u as a distraction to keep the Justice Lague off of their tails." Robin said.

"What?" Alexa asked, shocked.

"They used u Alexa! They used u as a distraction while they ripped off the Treasury." Robin said.

Alexa couldn't believe what she was hearing.

Her handcuffs dropped to the floor with a clank.

"How do u know I won't use my powers on you?" Alexa asked.

"I don't." Robin said. "But I trust you."

"Trust me?" Alexa asked. "After what I've done? And you're still wearing that mask?"

Robin went to remove it but Alexa batted his hand away.

"I like it. Makes u mysterious."

Alexa pressed her lips to Robin's and him to the wall. She kissed him for a seconde before leaning away with a devilish grin.

"And I like mysterious guys."

Robin was breathing heavily. "Wow." he said."I did NOT see that coming."

"You didn't see my lipstick either, did you?" Alexa asked.

Robin touched his lips and tasted the substance on it.

"Why u little..." he gasped, stumbling vooruit, voorwaarts and grabbing her jacket.

"Oh please," Alexa said, kicking him over. "It's not poison. Though I must admit it was fun applying it to you."

With that, the girl was gone again, leaving Robin to gasp for air as the substance gained control over his body and his world went black.

The two teenagers packed their bags and checked out of the hotel before heading out into the damp, gloomy morning.

Artemis could tell Wally was determined, he hadn't eaten yet. The two marched down to the train station where they caught a train heading toward Venice.

About an uur into the trip, the two teens' tensions were running high.

"This is going to take forever!" Wally complained.

"I don't like it anymore than u do." Artemis replied.

"By the time we get there, the boats will be closed!"...

Artemis's communicator buzzed. What was Batman calling this early in the morning for? She picked it up and, making sure Wally was asleep, slipped out onto the roof.

"Yes?" she asked.

"Artemis," Batman's voice had a melancholy tone to it, and Artemis knew it was bad. "Your mother was abducted door Cheshire and the League of Shadows."

Artemis just stared at the screen for a moment. She started to cry.

"Don't worry." Batman said. "The Justice League is heading to save her, but it'll take a while."

Artemis must have fallen asleep at some point before the movie ended, because just as the sky was growing dark Wally suddenly felt a weight on his arm. He managed to look volgende to him and saw that Artemis had fallen asleep on his shoulder. His first instinct was to shake her awake, but he was stopped door how relaxed she looked. Her head seemed to fit perfectly on his shoulder and she was actually smiling slightly. This didn't help Wally's predicament.

"Artemis, checking in. All clear up here." Artemis radioed in. The rest of the Team radioed in their positions and status'.

"The parade is beginning." Robin said.

The Team had spread out along the straat the parade was taking place. Their was roughly one superhero every block. Artemis was the closest to the action. Her bow notched and ready, her watchful eye over the garrisons of policemen and women below her spot on Town Hall.

Aqualad was near the park where a pond conveniently located.

I waited until the sun had set before leaving the cave. The night sky was setting in as I walked through the forest. I found a large oak boom and climbed up it. After the long ride home, I walked to the cave where I had been staying for the last little while. I had covered the entrance with vines, but inside was bright thanks to the oil lanterns I purchased.
