Barbara could barely get up that morning for it was the dag of Jason's funeral. Her face was makeup-less for her tears would have ruined it and her expression was irregularly sad. She stood volgende to Dick as she looked at Jason's peaceful face.
"He's dead, Dick. He was like a brother to me. He was meer of a brother than my actual brother and now he is gone," Barbara told Dick not lifting her eyes from Jason's still body.
"I know, I know. He was like a brother to me too," Dick zei as he wrapped his arm around Barbara's waist to comfort her. She turned into his shoulder and cried meer than when her mother left and when her brother killed.
The rest of the funeral was just that much worse for Barbara. When she had to say her speech, she barely made it through her speech. She wouldn't have if it were not for Dick standing volgende to her. No one this close to her has died, unlike Dick and Bruce. They both watched their parents die, so they didn't shed tears. Well, at least not in public.
The sorrow went on for days after the funeral and it didn't go unnoticed.
"I knew his death would hit them hard, but not this hard," Wally whispered to his girlfriend, Artemis.
"They did consider him as a brother, so it doesn't surprise me that they are still morning," Artemis whispered back. She walked over to Barbara and Dick on the couch. Barbara's head was leaning on Dick's shoulder as they were looking back on foto's of Jason and them. Barbara had a silent tear coming down her cheek as Artemis came and sat volgende to her.
"He was a good kid," Artemis zei to them and they nodded in agreement.
"Dick, can u get me some meer hot cocoa?" Barbara asked. With a nod Dick was making his way to the keuken-, keuken with her mug.
"Artemis, come with me to Arkham Asylum, please?" Barbara asked, but it sounded meer like a demand.
"Okay, but why?" Artemis looked at her hopeful friend. She hadn't seen her that hopeful in over two weeks.
"Revenge." A small smile creeped up on Barbara's face as she zei this.
Less than ten minuten later the two were at Arkham leaving Dick and Wally back at the cave and in the dark.
"What room number?" Artemis whispered to Barbara, now Batgirl because she was in her costume.
"A-264890, I know it door heart," Batgirl replied as she stopped in front of cell A-264890.
"You are making me feel too special little girl," the voice came from inside the cell.
"You killed Robin, and u are going to pay, Joker," Batgirl spat at the Joker's cell.
"You're giving meer of a reward than I deserve," the Joker laughed. Barbara had enough and opened the door door picking the lock. She shoved the Joker against the wall.
"You are a killer, Joker. And. I. Am. Going. To. Make. You. Wish. It. Was. You," Barbara threatened him and then punched his gut. When he doubled over in pain she left locking the door better than how it was before.
A dag later the Joker broke out of Arkham and captured Barbara.
"You tried to make me squirm, Batgirl. Now I'm going to make u squirm," the Joker pulled out a mes and started with her hair and went to her shoulders. She didn't scream of squirm of toon any emotion.
"Why aren't u squirming?!" The Joker screamed at her.
"Why should I?" Barbara asked with a pained smile that was expertly masked.
In the end Dick saved her, but she fulfilled her promise to the Joker. She gave him no satisfaction and that's what what "killed" the Joker.
