Upon finishing Giles Tremlett's biography of Katherine of Aragon, I've come away with an even deeper respect for Henry VIII's first Queen.

In this dag and age, there has been so much written on the six wives of Henry VIII, and many meer that declare Anne Boleyn as the greatest of them all, while the others have been neglected. Indeed, Tremlett's biography was the first since the early seventies to focus solely on Henry's first Queen. And it proved long overdue. Tremlett gives us the portrait of a woman who was not merely a matronly wife who defied a king; she was a strong willed and highly intelligent woman who survived many hardships thrown at her door the people she was raised to bevestig to unquestionably.

Katherine of Aragon was the youngest child of Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabel of Castile, two of the most powerful monarchs of medieval Europe; not to mention unique for they both governed with equal authority - Isabel ruling Castile in her own right while Ferdinand ruled over Aragon. Indeed, with a mother with such unprecedented power Katherine later came to believe that her own daughter was capable of such authority in her own right, even if Henry didn't...

Today when we think of being a princess we imagine a romantic adventure reminiscent of Cinderella who lives happily ever after in a fantastical castle. The reality was that life for a woman was precarious at best; with intrigue, war and disease rife throughout the centuries. The prospects for a princess were no different, but sometimes these royal women proved to be meer resourceful than the average Disney heroine in their strength of will to survive the harshest obstacles. One of these princesses was Elizabeth Stuart.

Early Life:

Born into Scottish royalty, Elizabeth Stuart was the daughter of King James VI of Scotland and I of England. As such she was gegeven greater advantages than most girls. She was taught to read and write - reading being one of Elizabeth's favourite pastimes, to play music, to perfect horse riding and etiquette. But she was also a pawn in her father's political maneuvers; being betrothed to the Elector Palatinate of the Rhine without ever having met him. Marriage was a business, love had nothing to do with it.

On 22 February 1540 a Queen was crowned. She was Marie de Guise, mother of Mary Queen of Scots, one of the most famous women in Scottish history. Sadly, Mary's failures eclipse the successes of her mother, a far better politician and leader in her own right. Qualities that were useful in everyday life but proved crucial in dealing with the Scottish nobility upon the death of her husband, King James V.

King James was an intelligent, if emotionally insecure, monarch who was loved door his people if not door his nobility. And after losing the battle of Solway Moss, he is zei to have died of a broken heart.

He'd already lost one bride before marrying Marie; Princess Madeleine of Valois, daughter of Francis I, who died less than two months after landing in Leith. Marie married James V a jaar later on 9th May 1538. Quickly Marie gave James an heir and a spare within a jaar of each other only for both sons to die within hours of one another. Before long Marie was pregnant again and on 8th December 1542 she gave birth to her only daughter, Mary. While James died of a broken heart, his queen had no time to yield to grief. Marie was made of far stronger stuff.

Alexander II, King of Scots, often referred to as Scotland's Alexander the Great for his complete unification of Scotland as one country during his lifetime. His methods were successful yet brutal, uniting all the kingdoms under one crown; the unified Scotland that we proudly hail from today.

And yet within two generations his dynasty would be wiped out when his son died leaving his only living heir being his granddaughter Margaret aka the Maid of Norway who tragically died on route to Scotland, dying in the Orkney Isles, ending the Dunkeld line for good.

What followed was one of Scotland's most famous and bloody periods in history, the Scottish Wars of Independence, almost tearing the newly unified country apart. Yet why were there no direct descendants to call upon as volgende in line? Was this karma for a King's ambitions and his brutality towards his own kin? In both cases it came down to the last in line being an innocent girl who's death paved the way for Edward I to make his bid for the Scottish throne.

Professor Hugo Strange is a classic Batman villain. Although he may not be as iconic as a lot of Batman's other enemies, he's a great villain that's worth looking over.

In a lot of Hugo Strange's earliest appearances, he was a mad scientist. He would often do dangerous experiments and create monsters. Like the Joker, he managed to return after having seemingly died in battle.

Hugo Strange was eventually reinvented as a mastermind who was obsessed with Batman. He was so smart that he managed to figure out Batman's secret identity. After doing so, he became Batman.

Hugo Strange is often underestimated because he looks meer like a regular person than Batman's other enemies. However, his brilliance and ambition make him a very dangerous threat.

Mr. Freeze first appeared in 1959. However, his name used to be Mr. Zero. He wasn't called Mr. Freeze until he appeared in 1966's televisie series.

In 1966's televisie series, Mr. Freeze appeared in three two-part stories. In each story, he was played door a different actor. George Sanders, Otto Preminger and Eli Wallach are the three actors that played Mr. Freeze in the series.

Mr. Freeze's origin story has drastically changed over the years. He used to be a mad scientist who had to live in cold temperatures after accidentally causing an accident in his lab.
