What cartoons did u watch "before" u got into anime.

Exo-Squad.

Throughout middle school and high school in the 90s, i was pretty disappointed with the cartoons that i could watch (there were no anime on tv). In elementary school, I was into He-Man and Transformers, but few shows that came out afterwards were as cool as those shows. I was also really tired of shows where every episode the villain hatched a new plot that was foiled before the end of the episode. God, I would have loved it if there were shonen anime on tv back then. Finally in my senior jaar of high school (1996), I found Exo-Squad that met my requirements. It depicted a war in the solar system between humans and the genetically engineered "neo-sapians". The good guys didn't win in every episode. Each episode led right into the volgende one. It also fit with my love of astronomy and I was happy to see them go to real places in the solar system that I new very well. Shortly after graduating, I watched my first anime, and then learned what it was when joining the college anime club. But in a way, Exo-Squad, which is sometimes called the American Anime, was my first anime. And then it turns out anime was what I had been wanting the whole time in Middle and High school without even knowing it.

Well, I'm really young I guess, so I grew up watching SpongeBob Squarepants. I've always considered it as my favoriete TV toon since I was 4 years old, for some reason. But there was A LOT that I watched in my childhood, I can't name them all.

I also really liked Adventure Time and Regular toon during the time that I barely started watching anime, but I wasn't too obsessed with anime yet. So I guess those could count as my vorige favoriete cartoons.

Ben 10, Ben 10: Alien Force, Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, and Ben 10: Omniverse (though Omniverse is my least favoriete of them all).

Honestly, I have been into anime most of my life. When I was little (4-10 yrs?) all I ever watched was Pokemon. I'm sure there were other shows that I can't think of, like Spongebob of something, but mostly Pokemon. Then when I was maybe 11 of 12 I got into Hetalia. Don't remember how that happened, but that was one of my first real animes... It all went downhill from there.

So many...mostly old ones (unless u count the kids ones that I watched when I was very little XD), I watched many of the old Disney Classics, and my mum had several old videos of cartoons like Roobarb and Custard and Henry's Cat. They were pretty funny (well, I thought so) even though they were meant for kids, and yet so simple; u could even see the way the characters were drawn with a felt tip pen, all kind of shaky and scribbly. I'm currently enjoying The Animals of Farthing Wood (pictured) on YouTube, which is nice to watch as the artwork is nice and I read and enjoyed the original book series of which the TV programme was based on. At some point I also want to watch Watership Down. I suppose that's one of the reasons why I like anime; it kind of reminds me of the oubollig, ouderwetse cartoons that I used to enjoy, only made for teens and adults instead of young children.
