Pretty Cure is something that falls into this category. Yes, it sounds like something girly, but it all reality, it's not as girly as it looks. My favoriete seasons are Smile and Happiness Charge. Go check it out! :D

Hmmmm... lessee... Epic, huh? I think I could give u some.

Attack on Titan (though I doubt u haven't seen it. It can be a bit gory though.)
Black Lagoon
Blue Exorcist
Code Geass *pic*
D. Gray-Man
Death Note (Ryuk looks like something from a horror movie, but give him time. He's really not scary.)
DuRaRaRa (not in that it has huge fight scenes, but meer for the story)
GetBackers (I don't recommend watching this right after FMA:B. u will be disappointed, so wait a few series before watching it)
K (Warning, very confusing. The sub characters are great though.)
Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
Samurai Champloo
The Legend of Legendary Heroes (NOT as stupid as it sounds, I swear)

I hope u find something u like!

My recommendations:

Naruto/Naruto Shippuden ~ definitely 100% epic - if u watch the first few episodes and think 'meh' I suggest carrying on with it - it only goes uphill from the beginning.

Fullmetal Alchemist (original) ~ if u haven't already watched it, it's quite different to Brotherhood, but still ace.

Yu Yu Hakusho ~ a fighting/shounen anime with brilliant characters and humour (especially in the English dubbed version). It's about a guy who dies, but the spirit world wasn't expecting him to die, so he is offered a seconde chance at life as a 'spirit detective'. He also... gets superpowers. XD

Hunter X Hunter ~ door the same manga writer as Yu Yu Hakusho, but this anime is less about the fighting and meer about the storyline. It's about a young boy who decides to become a 'hunter' in order to follow in the footsteps of, and eventually find, his dad who left when he was a baby. Two versions have been made of this anime, though the older version just stopped part way through, whereas the newer version is ongoing. I recommend watching them both since they both have bits and pieces the other one doesn't.

Death Note ~ a real classic. It's about a guy who finds a note book with the power to kill anyone whose name is written in it. He decides to use its power to rid the world of criminals, but the sudden deaths of multiple criminals do not go unnoticed. This anime is extremely clever; its strategies are so great, it could have been written door Shikamaru Nara himself.

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic ~ the only problem with this one (for me, anyway) is the unnecessary amount of fan-service it has. It's about a boy who is a Magi: a magician who chooses kings. It's set in a magical world and there's quite a bit of politics.
