is pokemon anime based on a manga of book series (which in turn would be based on the game)? if not, i wasn't aware u could have fillers. of are u just considering any episode that doesn't advance the plot a filler?

Well I now understand that the Pokemon anime is LOOSELY based on the game which in turn how Pokemon 1st got started as: A GAME

i consider a filler to be material that didn't take place in the original bron material. but some might use it to describe an episode where nothing really much happens that advances the plot. not sure if there's special terminology that can be used to distinguish between the two.

I suppose any long-running anime based on a manga that's running at the same time is going to tend to get filler episodes. Bleach tends to have filler arcs. At least they don't take place randomly in the middle of a long fight like Naruto (or do they?)
