The night. Dark. Silent. Should I? I think. Sure the orphanage is boring, the counselors are mean, but it's safe. No, I tell myself, I need to do this. I need to do this now. Silently I slip out of bed and collect my few belongings. Slinging my backpack over my shoulders I take one last look at the orphanage. I had planned this in my dreams, and I'm finally brave enough to do it.  With a nervous smile I slide open the window and snatch the rope I hid underneath my pillow. Grabbing my blanket, I stuff it into my backpack and tie a firm knot around my bedpost since my bed is near the...

The candle illuminated Mom’s tired face as she sat down at the end of my bed. A large grown filled the room followed door the soft sound of the mice scampering through the dusty walls around us.

Ever since I could remember Momma had been sick, but this was the worst I’d seen yet. Dad and Brother aren’t here to take care of us anymore, so Mom has to work hard to make up for it. Every dag when I woke up, the house was empty. She woke up earlier than the sun just to make sure I was okay. With each dag that passed by, Momma came back looking weaker and weaker.

“Aderyn, do u remember...

Henry felt the wind brush up against his brown wings as he made his way to the weeping willow. His large black eyes lit his way, along with the stars that twinkled in the night sky. Xia would be waiting for him.

The young schuur owl brought his feet out in front of him and gripped a branch causing the entire boom to sway. His speckled back rubbed against the boom bark and his hart-, hart shaped face was cocked up towards the moon. Late again he sighed. Henry’s sharp ears could hear Xia’s small boots making his way up to the branch.

“About time!” complained the impatient eekhoorn beside him,...

Kalypso heard something. She saw a glimpse of someone walking down the boom and bush-lined path to the beach. Quickly, she slid silently into the water. She swam under the dock, and looked up through the slats. Of course she was breathing underwater, so she was a mermaid.

"Into the boot Nancy. Don't try this again. of there will be consequences." one of the three people said. After a moment of studying (for it was rather hard to make out details from underneath a dock) Kalypso realized it was two men and a woman. The lady must be Nancy, she thought.

"You are cruel, cruel men," Nancy...

  Chapter One

*SPY ACADEMY

Eve glanced behind her, good no one was following her. Life sure can be impossible, she thought, especially when you're a spy, she grimaced. With a sigh she skidded to a stop and sat on the dock, dangled her feet in the warm ocean water, and closed her eyes. If u were to pass by, u would just see a young 13 jaar old girl sitting on a rickety old dock with her eyes closed, but the truth was she was trying her best to remember her family. She just couldn't, all she remembered was the orphanage and Spy Academy. Technically she wasn't

Kalypso swam toward the shore. Her brother would be worried if she was late. She knew she wouldn't have any problems, but for her brother's sake she hurried to get home. Kalypso's wet hair was plastered against her head. A few distant lights told her she was nearing her destination. She could imagine her brother going ballistic if she were late. Her father would be meer calm and levelheaded. Kalypso's thoughts vanished as her knee scratched the soft ocean sand. She sat on the strand and dried off. Her tail disappeared in a flash of sparking colors. Kalypso casually walked down the...
