The CW Renews ALL 11 Series For Next Season, Including Veterans ‘Supernatural’ & ‘The Vampire Diaries’
The CW has taken the suspense out of series renewals this season by picking up all 11 of its current scripted series — the 10 that
. The only renewal decision the network will have to make in May will be on midseason drama
, which will not premiere until April 19. Of the existing CW scripted series, the only one not on the list is
, which is coming back this summer for a fourth and final season.
(Season 4, sans departing co-star Torrance Coombs) .
stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles already had a deal in place that covers Season 12 and 13. The CW president Mark Pedowitz, a big fan of the show, had said repeatedly that the long-running series would continue for as long as the two stars want to do it. I hear that

— come from CBS TV Studios, which is considered a threshold for the co-parent studio — with the rest being produced by the other CW sister studio, Warner Bros. TV.
The renewal of the CW’s entire current lineup does not mean that the network will pick up fewer new series. This season, it is introducing three freshmen,
and it will likely add a similar number of new scripted series next season, as many as two on the fall schedule. Some of the renewed shows will be for midseason and/or summer, and not all of them are geeting full-season 22-episode orders. For instance,
Not all renewed series have done particularly well ratings-wise. While

“The CW has become home to some of the most critically-acclaimed shows on broadcast television, with a wide array of fantastic scripted series across the week, ranging from musical comedy, to superhero action, to gritty sci-fi dramas,” said Pedowitz. “As we continue to further our strategy of more year-round original programming, picking up these 11 series for the 2016-2017 season puts us in a great position of having proven, high-quality shows to launch in the fall as well as midseason and summer of 2017.”

Great said nobody with taste above the age of 13
Clearly you haven’t seen “iZombie.” It’s too good for anybody under 13. Or under 30, for that matter.
No, iZombie is geared at the 12 year old girls most of their shows are geared at.
This is the problem the CW have, Dawn Ostroff killed the brand in the crib with her narrow target demographic. So now people have a perception of the network they never had with the WB or UPN. I think a revival of the frog network could do the network the world of good to get away from the shallow, teen nonsense perception. That was the network of young shows but celebrated shows, its where Whedon, Abrams, Katims all graced the schedule. Berlanti who started on Dawson’s Creek which was his first show as exec producer now pretty much rules TV and the network.
Riverdale will be a new franchise for the CW next season. The script is so damn good!
But Transylvania, Riverdale, and the Untitled Kevin Williamson Project sounded so interesting. Now I probably won’t get to see them.
As if their last Upfronts wasn’t boring enough..
Am surprised at a comprehensive renewal. Consistency and rewarding audience loyalty is a strategy. Would like to see some solid comedies on The CW.
Jane The Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend are comedies. It doesn’t matter that they aren’t half-hour shows.
For what it’s worth, the network is already promoting Containment as a “Limited Series Event.”
I’m surprised Reign was renewed, the current season hasn’t been that great since Toby regbo left show. Happy about Supernatural, Arrow, The Flash, DC Legends of Tomorrow and the originals.
as long as they pick up riverdale and the untitled mars show i’ll be happy
Yippeeee – SUPERNATURAL is so far above and beyond most of these other shows – love it – can’t get enough!
I’m a 60 year old, white, straight male. My list of appointment TV shows currently include Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, iZombie, Better Call Saul, House of Cards and The Americans. I also enjoy Jane the Virgin, The Flash and Arrow. I had never seen a show on The CW before Arrow premiered. I haven’t even watched a CBS, ABC, NBC or Fox show in the three years (except for the NFL).
