TV Punisher actor Jon Bernthal reveals intense fan encounter on Conan 

Jon Bernthal knows not to earn the ire of die-hard comic book fans. As the newly minted Punisher on Netflix’s

series, he had two interactions with such people – and one was fairly intense. 

, Bernthal recalled speaking with a comic book shop worker in Ventura, California, shortly after his casting announcement hit the airwaves. “And then he looked up and said, ‘Whoa, it’s you!’ and he was so cool and he was so helpful.” The actor even scored some free comics, but his interaction in New York was much different.

“I go into a comic book store in Brooklyn,” he said. “I get a whole stack and I go up to buy them and he looks at me and goes, ‘Yeah, I know who you are.’ ” After striking down his reading material, the worker warned Bernthal, “Do not mess this up.”
