The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the spiders from Mars was released June 6, 1972 in the UK and in the US September 1, 1972. David Bowie's first alter ego came from the name of a London tailor's koop Bowie saw riding on a train. The band the spiders from Mars consisted of Mick Ronson (guitar) Trevor Boulder (bass) and Mick "Woody" Woodmansey (drums). David Bowie declared after a few years that this would be the last toon the spiders from Mars would ever do and in 1973 killed off Ziggy. The album still remains a classic today.
I've known who Bowie was since I was 10 and have been a fan since 13 years old. My family bought the actual record at a record store in Maine. A few months into my senior jaar of High school, I went to Fye and bought the CD there. I listened to it and listened to it again. I am 19 now and am still blown away door this album. Here is the rating I give this Bowie album.
9/10
This is pretty good one of his best albums. All of the songs are meaningful and some are very upbeat.
Five Years: This song about the world about to end is awesome. Wasn't really liking the backing vocals since they sounded like sesame straat characters singing "five years". But still the lyrics were awesome and chilling at the same time.
Soul Love: One of the most underrated love songs. Love the key change and quirky lyrics. Just awesome....
Moonage Daydream: One of the songs most played on my ipod. Can headbang although not metal. Shout out to the flute playing! Awesome lyrics that don't make all that much sense. ;)
Starman: One of the most populair songs on the album. The gitaar sounds beautiful.
It Aint Easy: Bowie did not write this song but he covered it well. Kind of short and not a Bowie original so it's ok.
Lady Stardust: An epic song about Ziggy being a misfit but then becoming famous. Take that haters!
Star: good but waaaay too short. Should be longer. meer like an interlude.
Hang onto yourself: That I could dance to, wish it was longer but I guess 2:39 will make me happy.
Ziggy Stardust: The song that makes the album shine! I like the message don't have a huge ego! XD My favoriete song on this album.
Suffragette City: Sounds a lot like a punk song even though David Bowie never really was punk. Doesn't really say much and is kind of repetitive oh well still pretty cool.
Rockn'roll Suicide: Epic way to close out the album. I wish I was around in the 70's so that I could wave a cigarette lighter while David Bowie performed this song in concert (even thought I don't smoke). Lyrics are relatable.
globaal, algemene this album was well done and almost perfect. Thank u for taking the time to read my long rambling review of Ziggy stardust.
