The Netflix original film -- which was also a Indiewire Project of the Day! -- describes Lotje\'s world as if she is starting again in an alien planet, bereft of language and logic. It is a genre-twisting experience that follows Lotje\'s extraordinary revelations of her altered sensory perception, reminding her of a David Lynch movie.
Maybe not coincidentally, Lynch is an executive producer on the film. "I am thrilled to join Lotje and Sophie in sharing \'My Beautiful Broken Brain\' with the world," Lynch said in a statement. "The brain is truly fascinating and much in the way that our brains are able to achieve total coherence — finding enlightenment and fulfillment, you will surely be moved and inspired by this journey of self-rediscovery."
"My Beautiful Broken Brain" is an official selection of the 2016 SXSW Film Festival and will launch globally on Netflix on March 18.
