Does anyone else think that Cass may actually be female and it's just the vessel that's male?

Interesting thought, but as an angel, Castiel is genderless.

Not particularly. If angels have a gender at all, he'd be male. The name Castiel is a male name (else it'd be Castielle) and I'm sure the other angels have referred to him as their brother at least once.
