And Cinderella. I don't see Belle get criticism...

^"Snobby" sound familiar? I always found that really unfair :) Also, her actions get called dumb and say she has nothing but book-smarts. That, to me, is all very unfair.

People just say "She is boring." without even trying to see her true personality.

More so off of Fanpop. People say she's weak, helpless, a pushover, a Mary Sue, etc.
A lot of them get unfair criticism, but Cinderella is none of the above.

AudreyFreak picked Snow White:
Nobody criticizes Elsa. A tiny amount of people calling her boring isn't criticizing her really. If anything, she gets an unfair amount of love for everything BUT her true personality (like how people love to use her to project their problems on). Elsa gets no real criticism, unlike Anna.

Belle also rarely if ever gets criticism. when she does, they immediately get shot down and her actions get defended every time. you can't say anything that isn't a compliment about her.

I would say Snow, Anna, Ariel, and Aurora. I don't think Ariel is a good role model but people overanalyze her way too much and forget it's a fairy tale and Disney isn't really promoting running away from your family for a guy! Anna gets a LOT of hate for the Hans thing and always pushing Elsa, Aurora gets called a passive doormat with no personality or agency and people don't even try to analyze her personality. Snow White is always considered the stupid one, usually even more than Ariel is, and she too is called passive, anti-feminist, etc. She and Aurora are always called Mary Sues who do nothing but "wait for a man" off fanpop.

Cinderella used to have it bad too, but now people, even feminists, grudgingly give her some respect for being independent and going to the ball.

I also think people are too hard on Merida and ignore the fact that she tried to fix what she did, but I understand why she gets a lot of criticism.

Silverrose1991 picked Cinderella:
Annabeth - But when people call her snobbish they are usually just pointing out one of her flaws, not criticizing her. And personally, I agree - she did call the townspeople "little " after all. But that actually makes me like her more, it makes her more relatable and flawed.

About the other points, sorry, but they thecnically are and aren't true: if you said "in Fanpop" they would be, but out of Fanpop Belle is largely regarded as Disney's Smartest Princess (seriously, that's how they called her in an interview with Paige O'Hara).

Diazdiaz95 picked Snow White:
Anna, Merida, and Ariel but I think that all of the princesses get unfairly criticized now and again but these ones are the ones that I think are most often criticized unjustly. I chose Snow because a lot of people want her to act like a modern person even though she was created in a different time when women weren't expected to be as strong and in your face as women now. She is a product of her time and she has more personality than many people give her credit for.

Visit old Fanpop and you'll see. Back then, everyone considered her a Mary-Sue, everyone thought she had little to no personality, the little fans that she DoD have liked her for shallow reasons imo...I feel that people justthink that she's some damsel in distress who just wants romance, but really there's so much more to her..I kinda wish that Aurora got a little MORE criticism on here though tbh :P It's always fun debating.

Persephone713 picked Ariel:
Ariel, and alot of the Classic and Renaissance Princesses. Ariel gets described with words that dont pertain to her whats-so-ever, and it mostly happens to her. But alot of the Princesses get labeled names or adjectives that dont make any sense, people then hide behind reasons that " its my opinion"- yes you can have an opinion, but if you are using a word in your opinion that doesn't make any sense or you back it up in a way that sounds biased its hard to take your opinion seriously. Thats why I think we should quit with the " Who is best" " Who is Worst" " what is wrong with this princess?"- all the polls seem shallow and catty. They are Disney Princesses, they are beloved movies and there is NO NEED to turn them human. Debating is not fun, you want to debate, join the debate club- after all the fanpop motto is to embrace the things we love and talk about the things we love, debating and have constant contests often leads to fighting - AND ITS GETTING OLD. This is for LOVING and Embracing the princesses for what they are. ARIEL is flawed, but the words to describe her are: impulsive, headstrong, a daydreamer- BUT NOT Selfish- and it never will be that is a fact because by definition she just does not fit that word. I love all the Disney Princesses for what they are.

MacytheStrange picked Merida:
People always seem to judge her for her actions at the beginning of the movie, when her personality and character developed and changed and she quite obviously felt a great deal of remorse for what she did. And besides, she's a 15-ish girl about to go into an arranged marriage that she doesn't want, it's not like she wanted to change her mother out of spite. Also Snow White and Aurora, if we're counting outside of Fanpop.

Few people appreciate what a strong and great character she actually is, and way to many say that she is a passive doormat (and bad role model), which is simply not true

Guys, I see both Elsa AND Belle criticized. Pointing out flaws they have is one thing, pointing out flaws they don't have is unfairly criticizing.

Persephone713 picked Ariel:
^^^ I completely agree with you. Same could be said with name calling and labels. @ Swanpride, I just wanted you to know I think Cinderella has got to have the most guts of any of the Disney Era Princesses, it would take alot to be treated like shit in your own home, mocked, when you are the most fair one, most kind one, and the one who lost both her parents. Passive Doormat?- if she was, she would not have spoken up to her Stepmother and said " WELL, Why not? After all I AM still a member of this family, besides it says by Royal Command, Every Eligible maiden is to attend." - Thats not Passive. Aurora is not passive either, she daydreams and eventually follows her heart and does meet a stranger, ( not knowing of course he is the Prince she is to marry). Snow White for 1937 had quite alot of lines, and was strict but friendly with the dwarves.

I'm glad Ariel is winning. I actually think I'll change my vote to Cinderella, because really, the hate and criticism she gets is victim-blaming, imo, and it leaves me quite distressed.

Tygers_Eye picked Snow White:
I think Ariel is FINALLY getting the criticism she deserves. She tends to be the most popular princess no matter where you go, while I think she is the least worthy personality-wise. What few criticisms she gets either get excused and rationalized away, or they get directed that things she didn't actually do. (Like "She changed herself for a man" when CLEARLY she already wanted to be human before she saw him.)

I guess Snow White. She's not my personal favorite, but she gets a fair amount of condemnation.

cruella picked Snow White:
Tygers_Eye I agree that there was a time when Ariel got little to no criticism, and people basically ignored her flaws. But what a lot of people are doing now, is hating on her and ignoring her good qualities. I agree that she made a lot of mistakes, and I'm not trying excuse them. But making mistakes doesn't make her evil. I also agree that she's had her share of selfish moments, but everyone acts selfishly sometimes. I adimit I was an Ariel hater too for a long time, but after seeing the movie again I've come to see her in a different light. And I think we need to stop hating the characters and start respecting each other's opinion.
