Snow White is actually loved a lot by kids, if I had a dollar for every time I saw a little girl dressed up as her at Disneyland...

I think people think that Snow White isn't loved by modern children because she was made for audiences in 1937.

I don't know. Maybe Tiana.

Mulan technically isn't a princess and children see that. She doesn't wear a big, poofy dress like the others. For a child, her movie would attract boys rather than girls. Even her personality is less feminine than the others. However, there is merchandise of her, but only less than the real princesses. Mulan, to a child, would be a honorable mention to the Disney Princess collection.

She's the least princess-y of those remaining, so her.

she's less girly and serious than the others. at least, tiana falls in love in kind of a school girl sort of way

Mulan is top? I adored her as a child! I still do. I used to pretend to be her. Really, am I the only person that ever got the pride feeling when I saw that film? That burst of energy that goes "GIRLS RULE, BITCHES!" at the top of it's lungs? That rise in your heart beat when you know that no matter how much you're beat down, a girl can overpower a guy any day? Heh, whatever. You go and spend your childhoods in pink dresses. I was having fun fighting the fucking Huns.

Anyway, yes, Belle. I certainly disliked her as a child and as they say, nothing ever changes much. I've spoken to many different people about Disney (being the obsessive freak that I am) and I've heard plenty of people declare their love for BatB. But pretty much all of them were like "I didn't really like it when I was little though. I only started to like it as I got older!"
Really, I think Belle is the reason there. She just isn't that familiar to little children. Most of them can't read properly by that time and won't really share many of her traits. They'd be all "Yeah, someone more interesting please!"
That's why I think children would like Tiana - what sort of little kid doesn't like to bake with their Grandma? And I'm sure many girls are grossed out by frogs or the idea of kissing them. She's very relatable in that sense.

As I said before, I don't know many kids who like Belle, let alone know her name. She's much more liked by teenagers and up.

I don't know children who loves Mulan at all. I don't know yet what they think of Tiana.
But they (children I know) definitely love Snow, Aurora and Belle..
