I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Game of Thrones takes home pagina one SAG Award | Watchers on the uithangbord | A Game of Thrones Community for Breaking News, Casting, and Commentary
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
picked up another trophy tonight at the 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. Several members of the cast came out to celebrate and cheer on the show as it competed it three categories, including:
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series- Peter Dinklage
Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama Series
ultimately won for their Stunt Ensemble’s work. The stunt team has won this award every year since 2012.

I could see House of Cards – but Downton Abbey…really? Do not understand the infatuation with that minimally ok series. Oh well
long story short- the other post got eaten. Sorry bout that.
And yeah, I’m so over Downton Abbey winning awards all the time when everyone knows it hasn’t been good in years. I mean even people who watch it know it isn’t that good. I thought House of Cards might take it, but DA…sigh.
Too bad that the previous comments disappeared. There was an interesting Sansa discussion going on.
I thought that GOT would win the drama ensemble award this year. This cast is so talented; its a shame that their performances are always overlooked.
It could be worse, I suppose. I just started watching The Americans: it’s an incredible show that is consistently ignored at awards-time.
Who are these people voting? That just doesnt make sense.
Especially if they lost to Downton Abbey. Like seriously?
I agree. Sansa discussions are highly volatile! I liked that discussion as well. Also, I agree that
needs to get more respect. Talk about anti-heroes!
Peer groups like SAG consider drama to be drama, which means lots and lots of scenes chewing dialogue and not expansive scenery or action, hence a series set mostly indoors with people sitting or standing around chatting they consider true drama. GoT gets nominated because it is an excellent show, and so voters can say we like the show too, but to peers it’s more like a guilty pleasure.
Like LoTR, GoT’s best chance for a win is it’s final season, if the big Hollywood awards never give the show a best drama, I hope a giant fiery snowball from space smashes into the city.
SAG needs to really add a new category, best television series for shows like GoT to have a chance, because to them it’s more of a hybrid show, excellent writing, acting, directing and production values, but it has just too much action and epic scenery to be considered seriously as a drama.
The Americans is one of those shows with which I’ve meant to catch up, but I’m not willing to pay to do it. I saw the first few episodes, and enjoyed them, but I just don’t watch a lot of tv.
In fact, while I would have much preferred GoT to win Best Ensemble, the only other show I regularly watch is Downton.
Missed the Sansa discussions but I’m very excited for Sophie Turner’s portrayal of Jean Grey
Interesting point about the differences in types of “drama” shows. It’s just too bad that some voters can’t get past the action and the fantasy elements to take note of the quality acting. That’s what this award was all about.
I’m watching The Americans on Amazon and yes, it’s a bit pricey. Since I’m indoors because of nasty winter storms, I’m going to ignore the price and just enjoy it.
i like how everyone on red carpet looks like their character: nikolai is very formal like a kingsguard, emilia looks like a queen with authority, natalie looks like a schemer and manipulator with her little smirk, pedro has two women like the viper would, kit looks melancholy as usual , and gwen is def the most noticeable just like she is in the world of got. and the two stark girls look like they are sisters in real life
Who are those two women with Pedro, I wonder? And everyone else looks amazing too.
Maisie’s look is great. I like Sophie’s dress, and love the shoes, but that hairstyle looks really weird from certain angles.
SAG is, in a lot of respects, the most disappointing awards body for me. Given what they are, i.e., a collective of credited film actors, in many respects this is a body that should be more meaningful than something like AMPAS or certainly the HPFA, but their choices for the TV awards are almost always dull. They never deliver wonderful surprises like the HFPA’s going for Gina Rodriguez this year, for instance.
George who knows about Hollywood predicted this in season 1. He said GOT would be nominated every year for all these major awards but never win any big ones or if they did it’d be the first season to get it over with. And that was correct with Dinklage, and after that he has been correct as well. He said he knows the way this works with fantasy and sci fi. They’ll nominate to placate the audience but never give it to those types of shows.
Also he made mention not to get your hopes up either for GOT winning big in it’s final season, as some sort of “reward” for the success. He doesn’t see any scenario this happens.
It is what it is. Not a big deal really. The show is a hit and makes a fortune. Whether or not some elitist snobs what to recognize that or ignore it because it’s not some crime drama or historical piece is pretty irrelevant. The success speaks for itself and cannot be taken away.
All of the cast looked great tonight. I really love Maisie’s dress and Sophie’s simple black dress was also a great choice.
So Sophia Turner got casted as Jean Grey in the next X-Men movie… I’m proud of her =]
I like Sophie’s dress, and love the shoes, but that hairstyle looks really weird from certain angles.
Sophie Turner appears to have a bald spot she was attempting to cover with the hairstyle, judging from the EW SAG party pictures where she’s wearing a tight ponytail that shows the bald spot. That would explain the weird hair.
Emilia Clarke seems to have gained a fair amount of weight, to the point that I saw pregnancy speculation on Twitter and elsewhere. She looked great.
Ah well, award season will always have results we can’t get our heads around. Partly because we look at things from a dedicated fan perspective, and partly because the results are ridiculous. DA ensemble versus GOT ensemble definitely falls in the latter category…
A few observations on the red carpet shots: – Gwendoline: Wow, isn’t she looking great! Couldn’t help thinking there’s probably as much red cloth in that fantastic dress as in the carpet
– Nikolaj: somebody did that funny thing where they photoshopped his impressive head on a body that was too small by comparison
– Maisee and Sophie: always a joy to see them together, on their way from the kids they were six years ago to the ladies they are quickly becoming
– Natalie: the perpetual pout impersonated, and doing a great job at that
– Emilia: still the cute girl she was in the very beginning – Targaryens clearly don’t age like the rest of us
– Kit: please someone tell a good joke – looking so miserable again…
– Pedro: the only way he would have looked more in-character was if he had Amanda Peet on his left arm and David Benioff on his right
Emilia is always lovely of course but, yeah, she looks her best with a little more weight on. Like in s1…(daydreams wistfully about a certain scene or two). She looks spectacular here, of course. With the capey sort of thing she has on her dress, it could almost be a Dany costume.
It’s a pity Nathalie and Carice couldn’t make it to the show.
M: Sophie Turner appears to have a bald spot she was attempting to cover with the hairstyle, judging from the EW SAG party pictures where she’s wearing a tight ponytail that shows the bald spot. That would explain the weird hair.
That’s not a bald spot. That’s the consequence of her hair being pulled back in that ponytail. Otherwise she would always style her hair like this.
Emilia has something looking like an plaster on her left arm´s elbow.
Sean C.: That’s not a bald spot. That’s the consequence of her hair being pulled back in that ponytail.Otherwise she would always style her hair like this.
Nope, definitely a bald spot, (judging from this older picture, which was from 2013), otherwise her hairline wouldn’t be zigzagging weirdly like that in that spot. Damn, girl.
And a bald spot can be a consequence of having one’s hair pulled back in a ponytail or otherwise all the time. It’s called traction alopecia.
Maisie Williams’ EW SAG party dress was cute and age-appropriate.
