Now imagine trying to write music to accompany those scenes and make them even more emotional and brutal...
That was the job of the show\'s composer Ramin Djawadi, who was tasked with putting together the score for the whole of season five including

From Sansa\'s rape to Cersei\'s walk of shame through the streets of King\'s Landing, the shocks kept coming thick and fast this year without much let up.
While most fans are still cut up about the death of Jon Snow, the moment that really got to Ramin was the horrific death of Shireeen Baratheon, who was sacrificed to the Lord of Light by her own father Stannis.
The controversial scene was the source of much anger and upset among fans and it proved to be equally as difficult for Ramin to put music to it.

"That might have been the hardest one for me to write," he said, speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk.
"We have 20-month-old twins, I have kids of my own and it was just so emotional. I had to actually take breaks writing that scene. I would sketch it and then I would just have to walk away because I got too emotional about it. That was a tough one.
"I literally went through another scene, I sketched it out and then I thought \'I need to let this sit before I finish this piece\' and I would literally go to another scene and work on something else because I just could\'t finish it for some reason, there was just something about it."
Reflecting on Jon Snow\'s death, Ramin said he found it "super emotional" and another difficult one to score.
"He was definitely one of my favourite characters, so to see that happen was hard to watch and to work on," he said.
He continued: "Whenever I watch the episode my jaw just drops, I can\'t believe this is happening. Like this season, I feel like they\'re taking it up a notch every season, It\'s so great."
The 41-year-old composer explained the music behind the pivotal final scenes of season five as Jon is told there is news about his uncle Benjen shortly before his gruesome murder.
"We knew it had to be the Stark theme. The piece before when Jon Snow runs downstairs - the music is actually quite misleading, it\'s hopeful which in Game of Thrones doesn\'t happen that often, it\'s such a dark show.
"The music was quite hopeful and then when he sees the sign it says "traitor" and rather than making it a bombastic moment we decided to make it rather small and put in a solo violin.

"The Stark theme plays on a solo violin and so it becomes quite an intimate moment - I think it makes it more emotional and I guess even more shocking that way."
The other challenging moment for the musician came when he was penning the music for Cersei\'s walk of shame. The composer said there was a lot of "back and forth" over where the music should be placed.
The long sequence that saw the scheming queen walking naked through the streets was mostly done without music, and the only sounds heard are of the crowd shouting at her and hurling abuse.
Ramin found that by holding off on the music the tension was raised even more: "She walks quite a bit without music and you head the crowd and they\'re screaming at her and when she finally breaks down - or shortly before, that\'s when we bring the music in and we felt that that was quite effective."
He usually works on three or four episodes at one time and watches them first before he starts working on the music.
The musician said that he rarely looks at the scripts unless it is really important, such as the Rains of Castamere during the Red Wedding in season three.
As filming is just getting underway on season six, like the rest of us, Ramin is still in the dark about what to expect next year.
"To be honest I don\'t know anything about season six at this point - no idea what the guys are going to be up to but I know it\'s going to be great," he said.
