I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Comprehensive breakdown of the seconde Game of Thrones season 6 trailer | Watchers on the uithangbord | A Game of Thrones Community for Breaking News, Casting, and Commentary
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
With less than (fewer than?) two weeks remaining until season 6, the second
trailer has arrived and we’re here to break it down for you!
We open where the last trailer left us: at the Wall with Davos preparing to fight over Jon Snow’s body.
“I thought he was the man to lead us through the Long Night but I was wrong,” says Tormund Giantsbane over a shot of Jon Snow’s corpse.
We then transition to Meereen where Tyrion descends the steps of throne room to confront a group of Masters, one of whom looks like Michael Heath’s character, Kesh. “Do you like games, little man?” one of the Masters asks.
The High Sparrow questions Jaime: “You would spill blood in this holy place?” to which Jaime replies, “the gods won’t mind, they spill more blood than the rest of us combined.”
Jaime’s last line is played over a shot of Melisandre, which is fitting (albeit in reference to a different god).
Drogon’s shadow passes over a Dothraki khalasar (presumably the one bringing Daenerys to Vaes Dothrak)
Bran opens his eyes amidst the Weirwood roots in the Three-Eyed Raven’s cave
On voiceover, Jaqen H’ghar asks Arya who she is and Arya once again replies “No one” as the Waif slaps her, as we saw in the last trailer
Daenerys is stripped by a group of Dothraki women, most likely the Dosh Khaleen.
We return to the House of Black and White where we see Jaqen removing the face of a corpse.
“A girl has been given a second chance,” he tells a blind Arya. “There will not be a third.”
We get a glorious shot of Sansa bearing the Stark sigil on her dress.
“It’s all I think about: what was taken from me,” she says over a shot of a sweaty Ramsay Bolton cleaning his blade and Walder Frey toasting his men. Black Walder (the man who cut Catelyn’s throat) is seated next to Walder Frey, confirming the character played by Tim Plester will be returning.
We get a closeup of Petyr Baelish in the North followed by the wide shot we saw in the first trailer.
Jorah Mormont inspects the greyscale that’s spreading up his arm as he says, “I know what happens” on voiceover, seemingly in reference to his terminal disease, though perhaps he’s talking about something else (where Dothraki widows go, for example).
Loras Tyrell languishes in prison. Margaery enters his cell and tries to comfort her brother.
“There’s no hiding from this. We have to fight,” Davos says on voiceover, as he appears to survey a battlefield outside of Winterfell with corpses burning on Bolton crosses (though the editing may be misleading that that’s actually what Davos is looking at).
Varys exchanges glances with a red priestess played by Ania Bukstein. She may be the priestess Kinvara, first heard about in auditions. She then walks away from Varys and Tyrion, looking far more confident than they do.
We get a very foggy establishing shot of Pyke and the image of Euron standing on a rope bridge from the first trailer.
“Stand at the head of our army where you belong,” Cersei says on voiceover over a shot of Jaime riding through a Lannister camp, in Lannister armor.
We get a shot of a knight in Targaryen armor fighting a man in Northern- possibly Stark- armor in a Tower of Joy flashback.
“Show them what Lannisters are, what we do to our enemies,” Cersei says over a tender moment between her and Tommen and a shot of someone approaching the High Sparrow.
Yara walks along a rocky coastline, looking unhappy.
An armored Jaime Lannister sits on horseback next to Mace Tyrell and Highgarden soldiers before the steps of the Great Sept of Baelor. He appears higher on the steps in the second shot, approaching the Faith Militant.
“The real war is between the living and the dead. And make no mistake, the dead are coming” Davos says over a shot of four White Walkers, (perhaps the four horseman who stood on the cliff in “Hardhome?”) one of whom is the Night King.
Davos is standing in a hall bearing the House Mormont sigil. Recruiting help for the battle ahead? It seems like Sansa may be in the same hall.
This leads into a rapid fire series of shots, many of which are recycled from previous trailers and teasers:
Yara kisses a slave woman in Volantis (note the woman’s facial tattoo). It looks like the rumors about Yara visiting Volantis may be true.
The Three-Eyed Raven surveys the aftermath of a battle in a vision, given the absence of snow behind him (he’s clearly not beyond the Wall) and what appear to be corpses on the ground.
Given what we know of filming and the terrain behind him, he is witnessing the events at the Tower of Joy.
Arya gets knocked to the ground while sparring (presumably with the Waif, though she isn’t clear in the shot) and then springs back up.
Archers and flags bearing the sigil of House Umber to the right
The Sons of the Harpy turn to look at something as they bend over corpses.
Theon cries in front of someone who looks an awful lot like Yara.
Brienne and Pod look worried in Riverrun (going by the Tully banner in the foreground).
A Sparrow is killed by a knight who, based on his size and armor, is FrankenMountain.
After the montage, we see Tyrion, Varys, Grey Worm and Missandei together in the council room. “Dragons do not do well in captivity,” Tyrion says. “How do you know this?” Missandei asks. His answer is quintessentially Tyrion: “That’s what I do. I drink and I know things.”
We get some more shots of a battle between wildling and Bolton forces. One of the flags to the right bears the Mormont sigil.
Someone grabs Pod around the neck at Riverrun though, judging by the jaw line of the “attacker,” it’s likely just Bronn messing with him.
A bloody hand smears a wall. It’s most likely Arya, since the shirt sleeve matches the one she’s wearing when she leaps off the balcony in the first trailer.
The trailer concludes with Tyrion achieving his childhood dream of coming face-to-face with dragons … though Viserion and Rhaegal don’t seem too pleased.

What if Blackfish stays hidden with a small garrison in Riverrun´s secret chambers after surrendering the castle to Jamie?
Old man Walder and Lannisters come there to feast and celebrate (their weapons not in hand ofcourse) only to find out some Tully soldiers are still there.
Hopefully some freys will meet the business end of a noose.
Probably worthwhile calling out there are lots of Lannister soldiers with the Freys in that picture too. This picture has me most intrigued as I suspect it won’t end well for those in attendance.
I just checked the chair Walder Frey is sitting on is the same as the one in the Red Wedding, meaning that scene with him and Lannisters feasting is the Twins not Riverrun.
I guess due to budget they filmed in a smaller set, and lets face it its not like anyone will notice the hall and the entry doors into it are smaller than they were wayyy back in season 3.
Also I’m 99% sure that the Sparrow getting beaten badly by the Ser Robert Strong is the same one who was with Lancel in the first trailer so this is likely the aftermath of Cersai’s “I choose violence” declaration.
“Do you like games, little man?” one of the Masters asks.
That is not one of the Masters. It’s a voiceover. The voice is Ramsay Bolton’s.
Kay: That is not one of the Masters. It’s a voiceover. The voice is Ramsay Bolton’s.
Yes, it’s definitely Iwan. I think he’s talking to Rickon.
Maybe he’s saying this to Rickon? Hope not
Man that Tormund line about Jon ‘ s death really is a solid effort by GOT to convince viewers he really is. Gave me chills.
The trailer is awesome. I’m definitely pumped for S6 (actually I was before but even moreso now).
One thing that occurs to me is that we haven’t recently (or maybe never) seen anything with
Randyl Tarly nor with any younger actors that could be Ned, Robert, etc.
The shot of Davos talking about how “the dead are coming”, whose banners are those in the background? It looks like a badger or something on a yellow field. House Hufflepuff?
Seriously though, I wonder where he is or who he’s talking to.
That priestess looks like Rachel Weisz
I am wondering if the title for episode 3 is right. Until I hear/read it from WotW, I don’t believe it. But…if it is….I think it is 3 that we will see us some Oathbreaking by one Mr. Jon Whateverthehellheturnsouttobe.
The trailer is about the best one I think I have ever seen for anything at anytime. Not just GoT’s. Almost too much for sensory overload. I wrote, almost. 😉 Just fantastic and perfect timing as only a handful of people saw the season 1 premiere last night, this throws some huge crumbs to the rest of us.
For some reason I am not anxious about Tyrion going to look at the two dragons. I am seriously anxious for Bastardbowl and how many potential deaths there could be there. Both sides. Did I miss any shots of Roose in this new trailer? Hmmmmm. Either way two weeks, while it seems impossible, it is just around the corner. We are going to make it and I … like many others… think this is going to be the best year for GoT’s ever. *off to watch the trailer for like the 10th time*
Is that a horn on the back of the Night’s King in the close up?
Are we sure Tormund is talking about Jon not being able to lead them through the long night? What if he is talking about Mance being gone? And is in fact rallying the wildings to help Jon Snow take down the Boltons?
Thanks for the breakdown; it’s amazing how much I missed.
I’m really excited about this season, because apart from one or two things I know pretty much nothing. It really is beautiful being (almost) unsullied again.
Jack Bauer 24, Give them a chance! I suspect they’ve held back a bit (wisely) as we’re all discussing the trailer at the moment, so it would probably be missed by a lot of people. We’ll probably get it in an hour or so once the hype over the trailer dies down a little.
Does Tyrion’s torch go out in the end? Looks like 2 different scenes. You can see Rhaegal in the same shot as Tyrion, but then it goes dark for the close up when he breathes fire.
The shot of Davos talking about how “the dead are coming”, whose banners are those in the background? It looks like a badger or something on a yellow field. House Hufflepuff?
Seriously though, I wonder where he is or who he’s talking to.
I agree, he’s talking about Mance. He will be the one to convince the free folk to march with Jon.
It’s definitely Mormont. Also *Spoilers* comparing two trailer shots:
The photo where Sansa looks alarmed…..I wonder if she’s at Castle Black. It looks very dark.
What are those flowers embroidered on Sansa’s dress next to the wolf? Blue roses?
Bloodraven looks devastated in that close-up. Such great acting from one screencap alone!
I’m going to throw a wild guess and say that after the Wildlings get trapped by the Bolton shields, Jon comes in with the cavalry. Tormund seems to be reacting to something that’s not the shields.
Is it confirmed we’re getting a flashback or a vision of the Mad King?
Man that Tormund line about Jon ‘ s death really is a solid effort by GOT to convince viewers he really is. Gave me chills.
Totally. I think he’s referring to Mance and not Jon though. If so its a nice bit of misdirection by HBO.
The scene of Davos is in the same Hall as sansa in the first trailer. Mormont sigil in the background x3.
Images from the first and second trailer seem to reveal that two special meet with House Mormont. See images here
This shot is just perfect! Can’t wait to see the whole fight at the TOJ!!
Probably extras who went with Jon at Hardhome and survived. Imo at least.
I believe that’s Eddie Eyre in the Targ armor as he tweeted about being in the trailer.
To me she looks like Aishwarya Rai. Either way, she is beautiful!!
The question is who are the two other horsemen sitting beside Davos on the hill behind the Wildling and Mormont advance? The tree line seen behind Davos in the mid shot of Davos earlier matches that in the wide shot from behind Bolton shields.
I couldn’t see the rafters from The Twins and the room didn’t seem wasn’t as large as the twins (more of a rectangle shaped room than a square, you can observe the Twins easily in S03E10 during the murder cleanup). Riverrun is considered a cushier castle, right? Why wouldn’t Frey just have his lackeys shlep his chair there for him? I smell some revenge killings.
I haven’t had a chance to spend too much time here, so I missed the talk of Yara in Volantis. Are we too assume they’re combining Victarion with her instead of with Euron as previously assumed? In any case, it looks like she’s borrowing Littlefinger’s magic carpet. First she’s on the Iron Islands, then she’s in the north with Reek, then she’s in Volantis.
“Dragons don’t do well in captivity” Definitely one of those lines with double meaning. It seems like an allusion to Dany as well.
I think Davos’ line about the dead coming confirms that Jon will be resurrected and he’ll help Melisandre do it. Nice troll job HBO is doing still rubbing our faces in his death though!
With no Lady Stoneheart, how is revenge visited upon the Freys? Is Brienne bringing Sansa to the Riverlands? I doubt they’d bother bringing them back on the show if something wasn’t about to go down. My improbable fantasy is that Sansa has a sister reunion of sorts with Arya by meeting up with Nymeria and her wolf pack and getting some revenge Stark style.
The shadow of a man stabbing another man in the back might just be a flashback to Jaime killing the Mad King. I’m surprised that hasn’t been brought up here before.
Obviously it’s Black Walder on the right of Walder Frey, but the person to the left of Walder Frey is Lame Lothar (Tom Brooke), correct?
HBO just deleted their first trailer for Season 6, the one with 30+ millions views. Boooooo ! What’s the point behind this ?
Is this Jaime and Aerys? Because the far right shadow looks like it could be the Iron Throne and the archway above it resembles the ones in the Great Hall…
LOL. Wonderful Gif’s and very clever captions as well. “Just die, dude” and Arya doing a front flip repeatedly is great. They all are!! You deserve a hug for that (((hugs)))
Luke Roberts took a picture of him in front of Ned poster.
https://twitter.com/luke_j_roberts/status/690875945788534784 If Eddie Eyre is the guy in the targaryan armor, Luke definitively young Ned Stark.
As far as I can recall Riverrun was the only castle we saw with wooden panels on the walls.
I think the silhouetted image might be a flashback to Jaime killing the Mad King. Notice the pillars and blue doorways – matching the throneroom, not the bare stone chamber that the High Sparrow is in. The editing of the trailer just tricks you into assuming they’re from the same scene.
Yes, clearly a Volantis tattoo on the prostitute’s face. Good that we’ll see more of Volantis next season in some fashion. Didn’t get nearly enough in Season 5 — though what I hear from the DVD commentary I commend the production team on squeezing it in as best they could; they had ZERO time or resources left for new sets, so they cleverly reworked a hodgepodge of sets and props from other sets to make Volantis (if you look really hard, a lot of the costumes are a mix of Meereen and Vale ones, slightly recut).
Overall a great trailer. And WOTW’s official breakdown matches with what we were all picking apart in the comments section.
The shot of two silhouettes, one stabbing the other in the back, seems to be a flashback to Jamie killing King Aerys. Note the iron throne silhouette in the ride side of the shot.
Anyone notice the giant horn on the Night King’s back in the four horseman shot? Horn of Winter location revealed?!?
I don’t think so. To me, the color is like the weapons of the Frozen Four. It looks like a hilt and start of a sort of curved frozen blade.
I think Tormund is talking to Jon after he is rezzed about him thinking that Mance will lead them through the Long Night. It cuts off on him when he was about to say more, i think he then says “it’s you” or something idk. Just speculation.
RE RIVERRUN: The person pulling Pod back might be Bron but it might equally be any number of the brothers without banners. Book readers know what will happen to Pod. Maybe this is a proxy version of that.
Re SHADOW MURDERS: I thought this was F’n Mountain being stabbed by one of the seven’s thugs. He does of course not die but instead turns to kill who ever is responsible and then continues on his merry way. I think this because the slighter figure seems to be the one holding the sword and stabbing the armored figure.
The Dragon Demands: …why did they change the Mormont sigil?
Probably because dark broen or black on dark green is a combination that is difficult to read, so a dark colour on a bright coulour works much better on a fast moving visual medium, I’d guess.
OMG!!!!! Just saw the trailer in high def. In the clip @1:24 mark, where Sansa is looking alarmed, she is looking at Jon Snow! We can only see profile of the person she is looking at,only ear & part of a beard, but that beard looks hell lot like Jon Snow’s! The scene is unusally dark, but the beard can be seen, & I dont think there is anyone else with that glorious beard in the north.
Luke Roberts took a picture of him in front of Ned poster. https://twitter.com/luke_j_roberts/status/690875945788534784 If Eddie Eyre is the guy in the targaryan armor, Luke definitively young Ned Stark.
Hint that he is playing Young Ned? I thought for sure he was going to play Arthur Dayne.
Were Aryas eyes not white in the first pic when she gets slapped by the waif?. Guess she’s not blind all season:)
That was my thought too. It might be misdirection in the editing and I hope when we hear the line it will be in a difference context or it is
No. In fact, they’re most likely legit. It’s the same site that leaked all the episode titles last year and they were all true.
It has been discussed on the other thread. Someone proposed that it could also be part of the theater play in Braavos and not an actual flashback.
The shadow of a man stabbing another man in the back might just be a flashback to Jaime killing the Mad King. I’m surprised that hasn’t been brought up here before.

How can you see that? Its pitch black in the area Sansa is looking at ahaha.
Laughed hard at this comment on the new trailer ahahaha.
“Poor tyrion. they forgot to tell him that there are two dragons guarding the wine in the basement. But surely his magic cock will protect him”
Wondering what happened to Osha and Shaggydog if Rickon is back.
Rickon dies that means he, Osha and the direwolf dies in the books at Skagos and Davos comes back without them?
Atleast i hope Davos will come back from there. lol
Has any body commented in the wide shot outside WF. Their are a shit load more that two crosses burning. I think they’ve got any one who was an old stark person and burnt them and perhaps some distrusted allies, along with Roose and wife.
I’m worried for Loras. Like Margaery is watching him and then embracing him before she renounces him and his “sins” to gain her freedom. I don’t know…she looks guilty to me.
Haha, I might have gone over that scene repeatedly…but it’s someone shorter than her with dark hair and a beard.
Thanks for the hug. I just realised that I fucked somthing up and because of that the gifs look a lot darker then they should be (probably a color range problem). – As if the trailer wasn’t dark enough already… Oh, well…
The Night’s Watch guys with their crossbows out are about to be stomped into the ground by Wun Wun ahah.
Why do I keep hearing episode 4 is longer then most episodes and the expect something “special” during episode 4?
I am eager for Alt Shift X’s breakdown, his previous trailer breakdown was great.
It looks like a Bear standing up, My guess is that’s House Mormont Davos is speaking with?
Thank you so very much for doing the frame by frame. Work much appreciated. In the shot of the horse mounted person striking the running “wildling” dressed person, with a burning flail,to the right is a large pack with a small person hiding behind it. The next shot is Meera looking up. Show version of Coldhands? Not grasping, just wondering.
Anyone Still having doubts that the hand near the fireplace we got in both trailers is not dany ..you can clearly see the fireplace in those photos where dany is stripped .
iam starting to believe either dany starts fire herself
that look dany gives when she is being striped ..somebody tell those dosh khaleens to not to wake the dragons and dragons dont do well when they are held as a captive
I’m quite sure Robert Aramayo is playing young Ned (look the first trailer).
Notice the expression on Meera’s face when she sees who is riding on the horse (and just zapped a wight with a fireball). Seems like she (a) recognises him and (b) is delighted to see him. It doesn’t look like an expression of bewilderment or uncertainty.
That could just mean it’s someone she meets earlier in this season. Or it could mean that the mystery knight is someone she knows very well. Of all the things I’m fascinated by, one of the most curious is finding out who this is.
Except its not pitch black! I downloaded 720p version of the promo &am watching it on TV. She is making eye contact with someone, who is barely in the frame. Part of the scene is made unusually dark, possibly while making the trailer, but there is someone with a dark beard & dark hair standing there. At first, I thought it was some object in the background, but the face moved when Sansa looked towards him. After seeing it multiple times, I am now all the more sure that’s Jon freakin Snow!!!!
Seems like Meera is inside the cave (she is not wearing the furs). Could Coldhands be inside the cave?
that episode is confirmed to have an ending of daenerys which will be of an major importance..and like all the daenerys endings in the past it will be awesome
WoTW’s twitter page just tweeted HBO will have more stuff for later today it might be connected but really doesn’t make sense deleting that video
Could be because Episode 4 traditionally has the season’s mini climax.
It’s not its riverrun. It’s the same hall where Cat/Edmure/BF/Robb were. The chair is likely just a set piece (or Walders favourite chair… It was clearly described in the books after all).
Notice the expression on Meera’s face when she sees who is riding on the horse (and just zapped a wight with a fireball). Seems like she (a) recognises him and (b) is delighted to see him. It doesn’t look like an expression of bewilderment or uncertainty.

Good lord, I don’t think my brain can take anymore HYPE. I may have a meltdown if more footage is thrown our way.
But, WTH? Why’d HBO remove the awesome first trailer. I loved the music. Don’t play games, HBO.
HBO just deleted their first trailer for Season 6, the one with 30+ millions views. Boooooo !
Yeah they did. That’s really weird. Can’t find the first trailer on their YT channel. Why would they do that?
http://imgur.com/D0zBWMF Looks very much like Jon to me! I just can’t not see it now. Anyways, this is the best I could do with the pics. I’m done obsessing…for now.
Not only Jaime and Aerys’ shadows, also the iron throne is to see
Looks very much like Jon to me!I just can’t not see it now. Anyways, this is the best I could do with the pics. I’m done obsessing…for now.
Looks like him to me too. I wonder if Sansa is going to witness the resurrection.
Wow! You might be right! It does look like Snow
weirwoodtreehugger: “Dragons don’t do well in captivity” Definitely one of those lines with double meaning. It seems like an allusion to Dany as well.
There is no obvious way that Tyrion would know about this: it’s not like Jorah & Daario have messengers! Instead, I suspect that this is a gun hanging: this is where they’ll remind the audience that Tyrion is very well-learned, and possibly where they will introduce that he’s long been fascinated by dragons. After all, that is finally relevant. (Some people had complained that we should have learned this a while ago, but they would have had to “remind” the audience again this year, so really, what would have been the point?)
I wonder if Emilia is actually going to do the nude scene, I thought she didn’t want to do that anymore? I don’t mind it at all, of course.
The hair is all wrong. So, unless Jon’s taken to slicking his hair back (and probably wearing it a lot shorter), that would seem to be someone else.
Sansa probably will be doing her own thing trying to stir up support from Northerners. We’ve seen the Mormant flag, so they might be a good be. (They also are one of the few Northern houses that could believably side with Wildlings: their enmity is with the Iron Born rather than with the Wildlings.)
I would love that to be the case and it would explain her look of shock. Good spotting, Rich, if it is, but I really can’t tell. It could easily be Davos.
Yeah, the hair is not his typical style. Is suppose he could be wearing a man bun though. We’ll just have to wait and see…
I think that the more probable alternative is that people are misinterpreting her expression. I would bet on frightened shock here.
heh, if so, then people’s hopes that we’d be getting that stuff from Crows are dashed! No loss, at least insofar as I can remember: but that is largely because I found it too dull to remember.
iridium: Yeah, the hair is not his typical style. Is suppose he could be wearing a man bun though. We’ll just have to wait and see…
True, it could be Jon, but only if he’s not looking like Jon.
I am suspecting more and more that Jon and Sansa are going to wind up at the Battle of the Bastards separately: they might not unite until then. (I would write “reunite” but are the two of them ever in a scene together?)
Jack Bauer should know about 24 hours
Doesn’t the NK look different in the shot of his and the WW’s approaching the fire? Looks different from the NK sitting on a horse with the Four Horseman.
Why is nobody talking about the banner behind Davos, when he’s on horseback? The banner of the King in the North and Riverlands! (Since the field is in both white and grey!)
Does Sansa take up her brothers old claim? (And why would Davos seek her out, if not by orders from a certain relative of hers?)
AND the fact that Arya’s eyes have returned to their natural state, which seems to contradict what Maisie’s been claiming about having to wear those lenses for most of this season.
…which means she probably gets her eyesight back after the first few episodes, right?
He might be wearing his hair in a man bun. Sort of how he is in the leaked image from Saintfield http://watchersonthewall.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Kit.jpg
Lyanna_Targaryen: I couldn’t see the rafters from The Twins and the room didn’t seem wasn’t as large as the twins (more of a rectangle shaped room than a square, you can observe the Twins easily in S03E10 during the murder cleanup).
Yeah, the room is completely different from the Red Wedding room or from the room where Frey met with Catelyn. It looks vaguely familiar, so perhaps it is Riverrun. I don’t remember seeing any of the Riverrun rooms solely by torchlight, though, and that makes the comparison tough.
The chair might be the one that Frey had at the Twins, or he might have had over-month shipping from Rhoyne.com.
Maybe we’ll have just one episode focus on LSH and the north remembers storyline, as AMC did with the Walking Dead when an episode focus on just one character as they did with Morgan this year.
Could be. Though the hair seems wrong. Unless Jon is already sporting the man bun by this scene. Sansa is also looking put together and is wearing the awesome fur and probably the new dress with the direwolf on it. So it is possible that, if it is Jon she’s talking to, this takes place after they’ve gotten new clothes from maybe the Mormonts of Bear Island. Or it could just be Davos or some Northern lord.
Jay Targ: He might be wearing his hair in a man bun. Sort of how he is in the leaked image from Saintfield
I thought that the one or two leaked shots of Jon fighting in northern armor had him with his hairdown. Harrington was using the man-bun for a disguise between shots and off-set.
But, again: that only means that it does not look like Jon even if it is Jon!
The shadow stab definitely could be Jaime and Aerys, but I’m not so sure.
The Iron Throne shadow is definitely there too, but the guy getting stabbed has a cape on, like the KG wear. Would Aerys be wearing something like that? Also, the person doing the stabbing has short hair. Jaime had his long blonde hair back in those days.
Here’s a brightened version of the trailer (not mine):
After watching that 1 second of Sansa and Maybe!Jon about a dozen times at x0.25 speed, I have concluded that it is Jon she’s looking at because I want it to be so.
But, concerning the hairline, sure it doesn’t look like Jon’s hairline, but
in the leaked photo KH’s hair is back in a bun. I know, it’s been debated almost to death whether that’s KH’s preference or Jon’s new do, but assuming it’s Jon’s then it makes it more likely that Mr Shaded In In The Trailer is actually Jon.
I need to sleep. Today has had so much hype that I’m drained.
Her scene from this trailer is different from the scene with the man on the horse. She isn’t wearing the furs.
Why is nobody talking about the banner behind Davos, when he’s on horseback? The banner of the King in the North and Riverlands! (Since the field is in both white and grey!)
Exactly – How will Davos even know who Sansa is, much less be with her if someone doesn’t tell him?
Wimsey: There is no obvious way that Tyrion would know about this: it’s not like Jorah & Daario have messengers!Instead, I suspect that this is a gun hanging: this is where they’ll remind the audience that Tyrion is very well-learned, and possibly where they will introduce that he’s long been fascinated by dragons. After all, that is finally relevant.(Some people had complained that we should have learned this a while ago, but they would have had to “remind” the audience again this year, so really, what would have been the point?)
I didn’t mean Tyrion was literally talking about her. I was talking about the show’s propensity to do double meanings. A line during or referring to one storylining having meaning for another.
This is great – thanks so much. I am obsessing!! They are certainly going out of their way to hide Ian McShane and the new BWB. Aside from the North, this Riverlands story has me itchy. I can’t wait.
Man, Brienne is going to be in a lot of places this season. I can’t figure out HOW she ends up at Riverrun. Why would she leave Sansa or why would Sansa send her there? Would she think Bran might have run to his mother’s home?
they casted a young Robert Baratheon (Fergus Leathem), so there will be a battle of the Trident. Trust me, Luke Fergus wont be young Ned, he will be Raeghar.
Fergus Leathem could also just be young Rodrick Cassel. We may have seen a glimpse of him in one of the HBO featurettes (I’m refering to the scene with the two young boys sparring in the Winterfell courtyard and overseen by some stocky lad)
I am starting to think though (as someone said up thread) maybe they dont come together until after BastardBowl..maybe they are in Crypts at WF?? maybe he startles her or be telling her what they are getting ready to face (Nights Kings and Co)..
Fredrik P och F: Why is nobody talking about the banner behind Davos, when he’s on horseback? The banner of the King in the North and Riverlands! (Since the field is in both white and grey!)
Huh, is it possible that the Blackfish is in the North rather than in the Riverlands?
weirwoodtreehugger: I didn’t mean Tyrion was literally talking about her. I was talking about the show’s propensity to do double meanings. A line during or referring to one storylining having meaning for another.
*facepalm* Yes, on re-reading, it now is obvious that is what you meant. I plead brain-cramp. 😀
And, yeah, it’s possible that it will be set up that way. They do like their double entendres.
I only see a Stark banner, where’s the other? Do you have a picture?
– given the high concentration of episode 1 and 2 stuff in the trailers
– given the intense secrecy around the season in general and not just the jon issue
does anyone think they might have cast rhaegar for a flashback, and simply not announced it? just to drop it as a cool thing in episode 8 or 9?
FWIW, I think that the red haired guy in scene with Jon’s body is the person who had his hands over Jon’s eyes in the first trailer. Probably totally inconsequential, but I lightened a still from the first trailer back when it came out and was wondering who had wavy red hair and might be in the room with Jon. I was thinking maybe Tormund, but I bet it was that guy. So that wasn’t a Mel-resurrecting-Jon moment.
Ghost: The Iron Throne shadow is definitely there too, but the guy getting stabbed has a cape on, like the KG wear.
The shadow getting stabbed (at) also has a shield. Or a kite. One of the two.
PARIS PADILLA: they casted a young Robert Baratheon (Fergus Leathem), so there will be a battle of the Trident.
There are many other things that they could be doing with a young Robert.
How can those burning crosses be near Winterfell if we saw in last season that winter HAD arrived and this field is too green?
Prrrt, I think the snow melting is supposed to be the answer to that question. And I assume the big battles takes place weeks/months after the big snow storm.
Kamali: And I assume the big battles takes place weeks/months after the big snow storm.
Here’s a thought: maybe Tyrion plans to charm the dragons w fire tricks. He will blow on the torch and produces a ball of fire because of all the alcohol he imbibes. 😊
dragonbringer: iam starting to believe either dany starts fire herself
Yes! I posted a similar thought in the newer thread, before coming back to read this thread. I think there is a possibility she starts the fire herself by overturning/throwing the brazier. The way the camera focuses on her hands on the brazier. And then her dragon arrives, as if on cue.
Demon monkey: You seem very sure of that. I disagree.

I think the obvious reason would be to find Arya. She meet and lost Arya, then ‘found’ and started to follow Sansa. Once things calm down a bit and they actually have a moment to talk, Brienne will confess about seeing Arya.
I speculate that once Sansa starts to take control over her decisions, she will want 2 main things
1) reunite with family – she knows about Jon, she knows about her little brothers, and Brienne knows about Arya – there should be be some efforts on her part to find out what happened to all of them
2) take back winterfell – her home, not so she can be queen, but because she wants a part of her old life back and a safe haven
so far all info points to this…. at least I hope it does
Surprised there’s not more comments about this. That shot near the end of the new trailer looks exactly like the description you shared. Is that like a legit spoiler or has Sue or anyone discredited it?
I’m no LSH nut, but what if that’s who Theon’s sobbing before? Amirite?
Nobody noticed that the Night King has a fucking giant ice horn on his back?? Is this the horn of winter??
And think that this is not his weapon, cause in another shot he’s using a greatsword.
Fuck…maybe that’s going to be the season finale: the wall going down!
Henry Gordon: I’m no LSH nut, but what if that’s who Theon’s sobbing before?Amirite?
I *am* a LSH nut (but a fun, lovable one) and I would say that the only scene one could twist to say it was LSH was the one with a hooded figure confronting Baelish in the snow. But like I said, you’d have to twist pretty hard to even come up with that. I do still believe she *could* show up this season but if she is, we’re not even going to get a whiff of it until it’s in front of our faces. “The dead are coming.” 😛
(don’t yell at me anyone – I think there’s realistically only a 2.379% chance of her showing up at all. ever.)
Nobody noticed that the Night King has a fucking giant ice horn on his back??

Lol – pretty much everyone noticed and it’s been roundly debunked.
That isn’t Jaime vs Mad King. It’s a sparrow vs The UnMountain. That isn’t a horn, it’s a sword. There’s only a stark banner behind Davos. Kit went through a manbun phase IRL, too. The guy talking to Sansa is shorter than her but most people are. I think Meera is startled by the wights breaking into the cave. The guy twirling fire on horseback looks more like Howland might (hunchback with scraggly hair) than Benjen. Why does Tyrion think there’s a chance the dragons won’t hurt him?
It’s Yara. If you look at a lightened copy of the picture, you can clearly see her hair and the square-pieced leather strap over her shoulder that matches other pictures of her clothing.
Laura: This is great – thanks so much. I am obsessing!! They are certainly going out of their way to hide Ian McShane and the new BWB. Aside from the North, this Riverlands story has me itchy. I can’t wait.
I also notice not much made of Euron, so far. I assume that’s because it won’t mean much to casual fans, though I seem to recall they promoting the Red Viper quite a bit, and Pedro Pascal wasn’t a famous actor then, either.
We learned it in the books, when the dragon roost (or what ever it’s called) was built in kings landing. It was summarized the dragons taking up residency coincided with their change in size and increased frailty. I’m not sure but I think Tyrion is the one to relay this information, gleaned from his reading.
As for the allusion to Dany I’d say yes but its for the audience and therefore not a knowing one.
Laura: Lol – pretty much everyone noticed and it’s been roundly debunked.
It hasn’t been roundly debunked, and it’s been mentioned 5 other times in this entire thread. No one knows for sure.
It could be a horn, no one confirmed that the horn Sam found was the horn of Winter/Joramun, and no one knows if that’s the only horn capable of bringing down the Wall. We haven’t seen him wearing anything like this on his back before, and there are other shots of him using a sword as his weapon.
From a narrative POV, it would fit the style of the show to have Sansa and Jon win a major victory in episode 9, and have the Starks reclaim Winterfell, only for the next episode (and season) to end with the Night’s King destroying the Wall and setting the stage for the real battle to come.
Wimsey, good point. Was there a point in Season 2 perhaps or the beginning of Season 3 where it was mentioned that the last Targaryen dragons were the size of dogs or something like that? I know it did in the books … but somehow I thought it might have made it in the show … where Joffrey was showing Margeary around or something like that … but I’m probably imaging that
Wimsey, I know you’ll be disappointed 😉 but I thought we had pictures of Riverrun
and Lannister and other tents, the gibbet, etc. from one of the shots people had snuck on to the filming sites and taken late last year
that confirmed Riverrun (at least part of the AFWC storyline) would play in after episode 5 or 6 or something like that
I think it was S2 or S3, but it was the scene with Tywin lecturing Joffrey that he shouldn’t be worried about Dany and her dragons, and he mentioned the last one had the head the size of a golf ball, or something.
EDIT: I guess it has to be S3, since Tywin didn’t reach King’s Landing until end of S2.
Im afraid that Tyrion was given Quentyns story line and he´s going to die…
That was it … exactly … better memory than me … thanks!
I actually believe Jon is dead and definitely not coming back. I don’t believe the red woman will succeed in bringing him back, or Bran & Bloodraven, will bring Jon back. Kit, the actor, is involved in other acting venues…..so I believe the show runners, that Jon is dead. I think we’ll get confirmation that Jon, is indeed Lyanna’s & Rheagar’s son, but tragically, Jon dies before he ever finds out. That’s totally how GRRM rolls. He hates happy and predictable writing styles. He’s even going to have a “bittersweet” ending to his series. Davos will have no other choice but to back, Sansa. That’s why he’s at house Mormont….because the Mormonts will only back a Stark……and any way y’all want to look at it, Jon, dead, undead, resurrected…….he’s still a bastard….not a Stark.
I actually think the man on the horse is, Hodor…… being controlled by Bran. Cause if Meera is out of the cave, without Bran, then where’s Hodor? Bran probably sent Meera and Hodor out hunting for food, because if you notice, Summer, Bran’s direwolf, isn’t with Meera and the guy on the horse. So it makes total sense that the mystery man on the horse, is none other than, Hodor.
I kinda liker the chicken analogy though. And that begs the question, does dragon taste like chicken?
Davos line in the trailer gives us a hint about Jon coming back. He is speaking about ‘the dead are coming’. He never saw the dead army or a WW or spoke about it.
Somebody had to convince him they are really coming. Jon Snow is the only one I can think off.
Tormund is talking about Mance R. good try HBO..
Or there may have been some new Wight activity.
Just looked at that shot of Sansa and it does appear she is with Jon. I mean compare the figure’s hair to Jon’s leaked photo and you might see some similarities. Besides the guy has just been rezzed we can at least expect him to change his hairdo (make a distinction between jon snow and jon stark since he still thinks he is Ned’s bastard). If this is Sansa and Jon I think it could be after Bastardbowl and Sansa is mourning Rickon so Jon is coming in to comfort her. I keep looking at the NK and don’t know if that is a horn or his weapon.
NB: I just read that spoilery post the redditor that claimed to be an extra wrote and either the guy has great guessing skills or he was saying the truth.
This is great – thanks so much. I am obsessing!! They are certainly going out of their way to hide Ian McShane and the new BWB. Aside from the North, this Riverlands story has me itchy. I can’t wait.
I’m guessing she’s been sent by Sansa to either wreak revenge on the Freys, or to rally support from the Riverlands in the battle for WF (or even the long night). She may even have been despatched to the Vale for aid and heard that Jaime was at RR so went there to enlist his help (maybe breaking her oath in the process).
I’m very interested to see Bran’s storyline, amongst all the other seemingly amazing ones > <.
As for Jon’s hairdo, I think it matches the hairstyle he has in the leaked photo from set. I always wondered why he had a man bun there, when he was already on set & in full costume…unless that’s how his hair is going to be in that scene. I don’t think hair & makeup people would like him to tie his hair up between takes, because it would mess up his curls & would take forever to get back those flowy locks. So my theory is the “transformed” version of Jon might have a different hairstyle sometimes.
The other conclusive evidence is the beard,it’s very black & it doesn’t match Davos’ or Theon’s or anyone else of significance, more importantly, it matches Jon’s one hundred percent.
& Lastly Sansa’s expressions, she is not looking fierce or guarded like in all the other scenes we have seen,it looks like she is genuinely astonished & looking at someone she recognizes & knows. & Jon fits the bill.
I rest my case 😀 I guess,we’ll know for sure in a few weeks.
“The real war is between the living and the dead. And make no mistake, the dead are coming”
You’ve convinced me! I’m also quite partial to a man bun, so I’ll be happy either way if this is his Clark Kent to Superman transformation cue 😉
No they are Mormont sigils that turn up again amidst the Wildling army. [ spoiler ]The reason Sansa could be looking down is that she is talking to the ten year old head of house Mormont.[ spoiler ]
I’m not getting hopes up. I don’t get the impression it’s him. The face shape seems too long. There are other characters she will be meeting with when she rallies the north, and some of them could very well have beards.
I think it was already mentioned early in season 1 in the Viserys/Doreah bathing scene, but Tywin does mention it to the Jof as well.
The show didn’t hint at the use of a horn to bring down the wall in any way and I am glad. I feel that there is no way you can show a horn bringing down the gigantic ice wall and it not coming off as cheesy (on the page it might work a bit better, but I doubt it). I feel the same way about glamours (the moment where Martin for me ruined the Northern storyline as he had already done with the Essos parade of (orientalist) freaks). I hope Jon’s resurrection is either done by Melisandre or Bloodraven.
I was so taken with the comment I didn’t even look at the Hodor tag. Even funnier.
Yup, he created so many pointless characters, because he was stuck and didn’t know how to get out of Meereen, that he started creating more and more ridiculous characters so people could tell them apart.
The wildlings at the end of ADWD where starting to get the same treatment. I hope martin learned a lesson and will try to improve in TWOW. But judging as he didn’t learn anything from AFFC, I highly doubt it.
This shot is just perfect! Can’t wait to see the whole fight at the TOJ!!
My thoughts exactly. The scream is perfectly timed, seems like how you would expect to scream when finishing off somebody in a hard fought battle. Kind of reminded me of ‘300’, actually. Probably because of the intenseness and lighting used.
I wonder if Emilia is actually going to do the nude scene, I thought she didn’t want to do that anymore? I don’t mind it at all, of course.
She stated in September that she is willing to do a nude scene if it advances the story.
Tormund. If someone, like Edd, does go to the wildlings for help then Davos could very well encounter and have a conversation with Tormund back at castle black. And the line where he says he thought Jon was the one to lead against the long night, comes after telling Davos what they went through at Hardhome.
I honestly don’t think this is Jon. Do you really think HBO marketing would be stupid enough to include this shot knowing how much the media/ fandom are scrutinising these trailers for spoilers?
Sansa is clearly being counselled here or is in conversation with someone (who doesn’t have good news), she’s not overcome with shock at seeing her rezzed half-bro/cousin.
We saw one picture of Kit wearing a man bun, so I think it’s a bit of stretch to make this connection. It could be any of the new Northern characters, or more likely Davos with what we now know. It’s impossible to tell due to the angle/lighting (which makes any colour of hair appear darker in any case).
Sorry, I meant the field is in white and GREEN. That’s the banner Robb took (in the show, I don’t think it’s specified in the books) when they named him King in the North and the Riverlands. The default Stark banner is only a grey wolf on a white field.
So many mistakes in that pre-view, I kind of realised a while back that Emergency Awesome is not that clued up to be honest. For example he talks about the Frey pic being the Red Wedding but misses it’s full of Lannister soldiers!
Also clearly misses it’s Ramsay talking during the Tyrion with the Meereen masters shot.
Also there is a clear spoiler in episode related to another character that isn’t Jon.
Shadow Murder: So this could be a Bran flashback of Jaime killing the Mad King; the Braavos actors playing that scene; Pycelle getting killed; or the FrankenMountain getting attacked from behind. I tend to the last version; but the attacker seems to have a sword (and shield?), so no Sparrow – maybe it’s even Jaime?
“Do you like games, little man?”: To me it’s Ramsay saying this – either to Rickon OR to Fat Walda’s unborn baby boy; both possibilities make me want to puke.
Dany with the Dothraki women: We see that ominous brazier in two scenes of the new trailer. At 0:20 the scene with Dany’s hand that we saw before, and at 0:31 where she is forced by the other women to disrobe in a humiliating way. Probably cause they don’t believe / accept her claims; and then she proves her identity as Mother of Dragons by touching that glowing brazier of fire.
THIS is the most mysterious and interesting question for me too – and I have no idea as to the answer
Unless Aerys was a fat giant, there is no way that this is a flashback. He’s got the right size and the signature helmet. The guy stabbing him has Jaime’s hair signature and is holding his sword with only one hand. Now, we can’t see wether it’s his left or his right hand, but any sane person with two hands would use both of them when going up against a monster like Gregor. Thus it must be Jaime.
