Game of Thrones: What Actually Happened to The Hound?
Remember Syrio Forel on Game of Thrones? He was Arya Stark\'s "dance instructor" back in Season 1, the first person who taught her how to fight with a sword. He seemingly sacrificed himself to protect the young Stark, but since his death -- or "death" -- happened off screen, many people doubted whether he actually was gone forever.
Syrio joined the list of Thrones characters gone but not forgotten, ranking alongside Benjen Stark and the Hound as seemingly "dead" characters who we keep hoping will return again one day.
Apparently we weren\'t alone as Syrio Forel Truthers; Maisie Williams told me during a recent interview that she also had theories about whether Syrio was truly gone.
"I always was like, \'Oh, no, I feel like he\'s still alive,\'" she explained. "I always had my own theory that he and Jaqen were the same person."
She told her idea to showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and they shut her theory down completely. When she brought it up to them, the pair definitively told her: "No, he is dead."
"I was like, \'Oh, OK," she said with a big laugh. "So that put that to bed really quickly, but I guess we can all still dream."
Maybe Syrio has a different fate in George R.R. Martin\'s on-going book series, A Song of Ice and Fire, than he does in Benioff and Weiss\'s version of Game of Thrones?
"Yeah, exactly," Williams said in response. "Maybe if it\'s not in the show, it will be in the book, and that will be great."
Game of Thrones: Season 6 premieres Sunday, April 24th at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
