I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Titles for Game of Thrones episodes 606 and 607 revealed | Watchers on the uithangbord | A Game of Thrones Community for Breaking News, Casting, and Commentary
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
has been tight-fisted with the information this year, unsurprisingly with the show going beyond the books. HBO has even withheld episode titles until the last possible moment- but thankfully they’re trickling out finally and today we have two more titles to add to the list!
official HBO schedule, the newly revealed titles are:
The sixth episode (airing Sunday, May 29th) will be directed by Jack Bender, his second episode after this season’s fifth episode “The Door.” HBO is showing a runtime of 52 minutes. “Blood of my blood” is a phrase used by the Dothraki among the khal (or in our case, the khaleesi) and their bloodriders. This title certain points to a Daenerys-and-Dothraki-centered episode.
The seventh episode of the season (airing June 5th) is being directed by Mark Mylod (who will also be covering the eighth). It has a runtime of only 51 minutes, but a title that will excite many readers of the
novels. There is a well-known and loved speech from the novels that centers around broken men. Can we expect to see Ian McShane as Meribald and this speech in this episode? It seems very likely!
Have you already read all the books and/or don\'t care about spoilers? You can reveal/hide all the spoilers in the comments with the click of the buttons below.

And EP7 will most likely feature the broken man speech.
Great titles. 6 makes me intrigued. …Has anyone predicted them?
The Broken Man. Oh wow. Wow, wow, wow.
I so want to hear a form of that speech in the show (though it’s way, WAY too long to remain remotely intact), and of course to have that shifty gravedigger unveiled as the eponymous broken man who is trying to piece himself back together.
I think this is the only title so far that the community at large has predicted, hasn’t it? Most of us also placed it around there.
This is one of those instances where I’m like, “No it’s cool, you can go ahead and just copy that chunk straight from the book.”
Could “Blood of my Blood” also refer to Ned telling Jon, “You may not have my name, but you have my blood.”?
EDIT: I actually think Luka wrote or posted a shorter version of the speech and I thought it was great.
An episode centred around Dany? How boring will that be then? I cant stand her story arc this year. Everything else has been great this season Bar Mereen and Dany.
Assuming that Sansa sends Brienne on her Arya-retrieval mission in episode 5, with the show’s habit in terms of off-screen travel it seems plausible for her to be in the Riverlands by episode 7. Since Jaime is still in KL in episode 6, at least, plausibly that episode will also see him either be sent to the Riverlands or already be traveling there (offscreen or not), setting the stage for their meeting again.
The return to the TOJ is in episode 5, going by the episode description HBO released, so probably not.
It was the very last line of Season 1, as he first saw Dany and the dragons. One of his most iconic moments and lines. I think he’s a goner.
Loved that moment when he sees Dany and the dragons.
Why are the episodes of this season so short? Somebody knows?
Isn’t it too long though? I’d skip a few of the details as Meribald goes into the specifics of what a campaign entails and what breaks a man.
Really? The thought didn’t even cross my mind. I fully expect it to be Brienne and Podrick, just as in the books. Not because that was the case in the books, but because it fits in the show too. The following situation with the sect fits even better, as Brienne has already met the “broken man” in the show.
EP4-5 are quite big and 8-9 also. EP is 69 minutes, the biggest episode as far as I remember.
Sounds like I’ll be taking a lot of bathroom breaks during “Blood of My Blood”. Also, Daario needs to die; he is messing up my predictions lol.
As for episode 7, I think we will see many broken characters.
I’m not one of those “change something from the book and I riot” folks but I would rather have the entire Broken Man speech in its original form. If the actor giving the speech is
why condense his screen time? That’s THE speech you brought this man in to deliver.
The last three episodes are 59, 60 and 69 minutes. They more than make up for it. In fact, season six is exactly as long as season five, which makes it one of the longest seasons.
Agreed. Maribald goes into it preaty long. It needs a trim.
I don’t know. It could be Brienne sure. But I like the idea of Bronn/Jaime hearing it. Anyway I’m not to bothered if I’m wrong.
All episode titles have double meanings or in some way have to do with every storyline going on.
“Broken man” … i must say i do NOT see Meribald helping the High Sparrow by
bringing him the Hound to face Gregor in the trial by combat.
Meribald is a good guy while the HighSparrow is leaning thowards religious extremism, lust for power and domiance.
It’s not too long to me. But then I have a theater background. I’m not afraid of monologues, especially ones in the hands of a great actor like McShane.
I think it is because we have not seen much of her this season. I hope the episode will start moving things along at a quicker pace. She has to sail for Westeros by the end of the season. For the sake of my sanity. And it is not because she is one of my favorites, just be done with Essos already.
I don’t know the runtime of episodes 4 and 5, but these three last episodes have been the shortest ones ever, and I’m really pissed about it.
Oh, a general “please cover your spoilers” reminder. Casting isn’t a spoiler, but obviously plot details are.
It’s simply to long. It would be a 5-6 minutes speech.
And it goes so into detail that you can easly cut from it.
Hell it might even loose it’s impact if it goes on to long. It’s easy to read that speech but it isn’t easy to listen to it for 6 minutes and Maribald just goes in circles of how bad war is.
He gives about 3-4 reasons why people ”broke” in the show you could easly have only 1-2.
With that in mind, it could relate to many interesting things, including the ToJ, Jaime & Cersei, BR and Jon/Dany, the Stark kids, etc. Another great title.
“Broken Man” will have me on edge. Another one of those great anticipated moments! I love how B&W are pushing the TWoW edge but also revisiting canon.
How are we doing as a whole regarding the prediction of episode titles? I think a few have been correct.
So, anyhow… I think that E6 may have that meeting of Khals? Khal Vele-whatever?
indirectly implying that NEXT YEAR, they will start filming later
Exactly. In Season 2 Jorah said something like “I will remember that day until my very last breath.”
“Blood of my blood” as his dying words would be a nice callback to that Season 1 moment, and a good ending to his story.
It’s a great speech. Hell it’s among the only things I liked in AFFC.
I just don’t think it would fit on TV in it’s entirety.
He said something of filming next year to. It was a interview. I don’t think Jorah dies this season.
I think this is the only title so far that the community at large has predicted, hasn’t it? Most of us also placed it around there.
If by “community at large” you mean over a dozen or so separate folks predicting, then probably, but three had guessed Oathbreaker and one had guessed Home. And really, no one guessed “The Broken Man” or even “Broken Man” in the comments, but there were 14 instances of “Broken Men.”
I guessed “Blood of My Blood”! And four others did, as well.
Fergus Leatham’s (the young Rodrik Cassel) CV shows he is in episode 5. So Bran’s vision might be back in Winterfell
Off Topic: New Season 6 tracks have just been uploaded.
to have the privilege to hear the Broken Man speech delivered by an actor as great as McShane. I simply
some of the speech to be trimmed, because it is quite long.
I remembered that wrong. Oh well. Still, there were quite a few “Broken men”, which is close enough 😉
Nice. I like the Broken Man speech, despite not being a fan of Brienne’s storyline or Feast for Crows in general. I’d like them to keep it lengthy, though a fair few words may have to be changed here and there, the dialogue style of the show is a lot more modern at this point.
I’m just happy to see some episodes with titles that are clear book references, after more prosaic titles like The Door and Home.
Also people should stop worrying about Jorah. He has plot armor until his greyscale comes to mean something. Blood of my blood is probably just the oath the khals will use when swearing themselves to Dany.
“Blood of my blood” is what the bloodriders call their khal. They are considered blood-related even though they aren’t, and they would die for their khal. This phrase was said all of the time to Khaleesi when she wandered with her khal after Drogo died.
I have no idea what Broken Man could mean? I am guessing it has to do with JON? Though I think by then he shouldn’t be broken anymore LOL. Maybe Jamie…. I feel like he may have to make a tough decision at some point.
In regards to Blood of my Blood – I think it has to do with Dany (duh) and Jorah possibly dying.
I didn’t say they WILL be doing it. I just said I would be okay with them taking the whole thing and putting it on TV.
Same. Just cut the different ways Maribald calls ”broken man” and a bit from the war part, it’s to much fluff there and go directly to the point, how men ”brake”.
I just realized that the next episode is 59 minutes!
My bets is still on a short version. ”Short”, the speech could easly go for 3-4 minutes.
Ginevra: “Blood of my blood” is what the bloodriders call their khal.
That’s the obvious connotation for the title. But, like Lyanna, I would rather see it extend into other aspects of the story.
If one looks hard enough, I suppose one can make that happen.
Really? The thought didn’t even cross my mind. I fully expect it to be Brienne and Podrick, just as in the books. Not because that was the case in the books, but because it fits in the show too. The following situation with the sect fits even better, as Brienne has already met the “broken man” in the show.
I expect it will be them too, though I’m not sure of the effect of Brienne having previously met the Hound. It seems like, from her description of events in 602, Brienne had softened her view of the Hound a bit, but if they meet again what comes of that? I guess that in turn depends on what the Hound’s role is, if any, going forward.
Be careful here as some may forget to use spoiler tags.
But to be honest it could easly refer to other things as well. Theon, Rickon, Jaime, High Sparrow….etc.
‘Blood of my Blood’ could tie in to lots of different storylines: obviously Dany, Jorah (he actually calls her this in S1/S2 I think? It seems a fair bet he will die this episode), Jon and the remaining Starks, KL and possibly even family Tarly…
‘The Broken Man’ has got me very excited though. Septon Meribald’s speech for sure, and it seems really likely that we’ll find out for sure what happened to the Hound this episode too. Brienne and Pod will feature, as they are the ones who are on the receiving end of the speech.
Book spoiler alert: if the acronym LSH means nothing to you, read no further!
All of this is making me wonder what the writers will be doing with the Stoneheart/Red Wedding revenge plot threads. I know some people still hold out hope for the lady herself, in spite of everything – I mean if Kit can outright lie about Jon’s fate, all bets are off, right? – but I can’t see them introducing her and a resurrected Hound (not to mention Jon) in such quick succession. I’d love to be wrong, but I can’t see how they will make it work with that character.
That said, however… it’s really interesting that all the pieces are falling into place for the book plotline to happen: Brienne, Pod and (likely) Jaime all in the Riverlands, Thoros and the BwB returning, Walder Frey and the Tully’s returning. Just with no LSH. I think it’s pretty clear that Sansa isn’t going to fulfill the ‘Lady Lemonheart’ theory: if she goes to Castle Black to meet up with Jon, and finds out that Ramsay has Rickon, she’s not going south. Arya could come back to Westeros and go to cross a few names off her list, but I don’t feel that the show would have spent all this time showing her becoming ‘no-one’ only for her to reprise the role of Arya Stark.
I assume that Brienne is sent to the Riverlands by Sansa who wants her to find her sister, and that’s how she will meet up with the Brotherhood. But I still think someone will need to orchestrate a big revenge plot against the Freys… Blackfish? Or does Sansa tell Brienne to go kill Walder Frey? Really interested to see how this will all play out…
I am sooooooooo excited for Blood of my Blood I love Dany’s story so I do hope its a big one for her.
Season 3, Episode 4 was called “And Now His Watch is Ended” and it was only a small portion of the episode. I don’t think that “Blood of My Blood” will be particulary focused on Dany.
Messed up the link. I meant Oathbreaker. Whole song is beautiful in fact.
Yup being careful reading comments 🙂 thank you.
Well if its a speech from the books then im sure that’s what it is.
Though I do hope she can handle the Dothraki without him.
Agree. But it should at least have 1 big Dany moment.
I remembered that wrong. Oh well. Still, there were quite a few “Broken men”, which is close enough 😉
Definitely close enough. I just wanted to clarify. And it is certainly the most popular one so far, by far.
I was thinking ToJ, Part 2 as well… The title does imply a Dothraki-centric episode, but it could well mean other family-oriented/related scenes. 🙂
The description of EP5 says ”Bran will find a secret” I think it will be here will see the rest and find about Jon’s parents.
Iain Glen already confirmed (accidentally…), that he will film season 7, so he won’t die this season… I rather think he will get back with Dany to join her new Khalasar or whatever may happen with her… So, don’t worry about the bear. It also wouldn’t make sense to kill him off with the greyscale… But I really like the idea of naming the episode “Blood of my blood”. Also good to know: In Scotland this sentence is said during marriage ceremony, so maybe another wedding is taking place?
Both titles with multiple possible applications, as is the show’s wont.
I’m bouncing in my seat in anticipation of Meribald’s epic soliloquy, and I’m with Sue in thinking that the more of it we get, the better – especially considering that, in my view, the show has given rather short shrift so far to the horrific impact on the smallfolk of the strife caused by the ambitions of the rich and powerful. This is GoT’s big chance to drive home the antiwar philosophy that, in the books, is such an important underlying theme.
But I’m sure that we all have our favorite arguably-broken men in the story who could be spotlighted in that episode. Jon certainly is looking the worse for wear so far this season, and could find some moment of re-inspiration. I’d especially love to see Theon accomplish something awesome that helps him begin to forgive himself, recapture a bit of his pride (without becoming the arrogant twit that he was as a resentful youth). Though the conventional wisdom seems to be that the character’s living on borrowed time and would welcome death anyway, Alfie Allen’s acting is so splendid that I for one would be really pleased to see Theon find his honorable place in the world, just to keep him around longer.
And ‘Blood of My Blood’ may be a Dothraki expression, but I hope that we don’t linger too long in Dany’s plotline in that episode. The title could also reflect some other long-awaited family reunions. Plus, it might be the right time for Jon to be informed that he has another, more unexpected, living relative. Tommen might also finally figure out who his real father is.
Some people have said that Young Hodor was supposed to be in that episode. Will they show two flashbacks ?
Do we have concrete evidence that there will even be a return to the ToJ this year? I’ve only seen set pics of the fight outside. Did Young Ned/Neil Patrick Harris say he’ll be back later this season? I must have missed something…
Yes, I know BR said we’ll visit again another day but Ned also said he’d tell Jon about his parentage when he returned and we all know how that turned out.
Sorry! I didn’t know you don’t read them… 🙁
Well we will definetly see more flashbacks, so it could be many things.
Funny how some people feel like they HAVE to point out that they dislike certain stories and arcs. I don’t like most of happens in the North, mainly nothern lords and I’m not spitting this over almost every post like some do towards Dany’s storyline. Not every character can have a fast pace in this show.
Those are two of the best titles of the season. Unfortunatelly, “Blood of my blood” doesn’t sound promosing for Jorah. As some people have said, it’s one of his most iconic lines and considering
in those leaked pics and video it was only Daario with Dany leading hew Khalasar I’m afraid he’ll be killed off…
As for the second title, just waiting for The Hound to come back 😀 one of my favorite characters. Honestly I’d like more to see a Hound/Arya reunion than a stark kids one.
I have no idea what Broken Man could mean? I am guessing it has to do with JON? Though I think by then he shouldn’t be broken anymore LOL. Maybe Jamie…. I feel like he may have to make a tough decision at some point.
In regards to Blood of my Blood – I think it has to do with Dany(duh) and Jorah possibly dying.
A lot of people seem to think Jorah will say these words. I cannot see it happening. Jorah isn’t a bloodrider, is he? Why would he say the words of the bloodriders? I suppose if he became a bloodrider…. Only Jhogo, Aggo, and Rakharo are Dany’s bloodriders, and they seem to have magically disappeared. I think this episode will be Dany getting a brand new khalasar with brand new bloodriders. Or maybe Jhogo, Aggo, and Rakharo will show back up.
That said… yeah, I’m quite curious about what the climactic episodes of the season will be titled. We probably won’t get them for a while.
Ginevra: I cannot see it happening. Jorah isn’t a bloodrider, is he? Why would he say the words of the bloodriders?
I mean… Jorah did use the phrase rather famously at the end of season one.
The actor who plays Dayne said will see more of Robert Aramayo, who plays Young Ned.
The interior, if we get them should have been filmed in Ireland anyway. Al interior scenes are filmed there. Meereen, KL…etc.
i love dany’s story but if jorah dies then episode 6 will be one of worst episode ever
Sweet thanks! Do we know of a possible Lyanna casting?
Since I am in the category ”Haven’t read the books yet even though I have them all” don’t know if my voice counts, but I read that speech and Wow, it’s amazing ,no doubt Ian McShane will be perfect. And, If we get to hear North Remembers speech… Anyway, I think Cleganebowl will be in season 7
“Blood of my blood”. Asuming that this expression is from dothraki, it should be Dany who said it. Who could be? Dany and her dragon. Drogon could be her bloodrider. But… well,
it could refers to other character, other potential targaryen blood?
Going by your logic “The Rains of Castamere” is the worst episode ever ?
I do think that Jorah is a goner this season
“Bran learns a great deal” I don’t think that’s necessarily related to the ToJ? We’ve seen him with WW in the trailers… maybe he’s learning about them in EP5?
Does anyone else use IMDB? They are usually reliable, right? I ask because Essie Davis’ character name
keeps changing. First it was saying things like Lady Stark. Now, in ep 4, it says Lady Stork? Is someone trolling IMDB? How vetted are the character names?
i love dany’s story but if jorah dies then episode 6 will be one of worst episode ever
I agree. He is one of my favorite. I hope he will make it to Westeros with Dany.
Its okay 🙂 I KNOW that Bran will be the one to show us the big reveal 🙂 so its not so much a secret to me
She’s playing a version of Cersei Lannister in the theater play at Braavos.
Does anyone else use IMDB? They are usually reliable, right? I ask because Essie Davis’ character name
No… IMDB is HORRIBLY unreliable when it comes to future episodes.
Hodors Bastard: That’s the obvious connotation for the title. But, like Lyanna, I would rather see it extend into other aspects of the story.
Ah. Well, I’m sure it could extend to siblings. We do have siblings in practically every episode, so it would be easy to extrapolate. I wonder if we sometimes give these titles more thematic credit than they deserve.
IMDb is NOT reliable. Not at all. It’s fan-updated. Essie Davis is playing the Leading Actress in the theater troupe, the one who dresses up as Cersei. In the books, this theater troupe character is named Lady Stork. Someone added that to IMDb and somehow that got misread as Lady Stark at one point. She has nothing to do with Lady Stark. But we don’t know her character name at all, she may not be Lady Stork in the show. IMDb is a pain in the ass, most of the time.
I’m hoping Dany gets a khalasar by next episode so idk why Blood of My Blood should be episode 6 if it indeed reffers to her and new bloodriders. Unless they finish the next episode with a big scene, she doesn’t show up in EP05 and by EP06 they show her leaving Vaes Dothrak with a new khalasar and new bloodriders – Qoy Qoyi.
Perhaps Blood of my Blood will highlight the other theory
that tyrion is also a targaryan? Maybe we get TOJ pt2 in EP5 but they don’t go into the details until 6 and have a small focus on Dany and bloodriders, which means our three headed dragon could all be revealed in EP6?
Okay, that makes sense. Post-episode seems spot on. That’s why I asked (and because it’s the second time I saw her character name change).
According to spoilertv episode 3 pulled 7.28 – a hair down from E2’s 7.29 but essentially the same.
Excellent! I wasn’t expecting Episode 6 to be a big Dany episode, but I’m looking forward to seeing this part of her story. And of course, while her relationship to the Dothraki will be the most literal application of the title,
We know Episode 6 will feature Jaime and the Tyrells marching on the Sept to free Margaery. Based on its placement in the season, the episode will probably also feature Jon and Sansa rallying Stark loyalist houses, and Arya seeing the play about her family.
! We’ve got a date for our Ian McShane appearance, then – June 5th. Looking forward to it.
I just went back and read the Broken Man speech again. Focusing just on Meribald’s unbroken monologue, without the conversation leading into it or leading out, it’s about 650 words. That’s far too long for the show to transcribe in its entirety, especially because McShane isn’t just going to race through the speech – there are certain to be dramatic pauses and haunted stares into the distance. Fortunately, there are definitely elements of the speech – certain rhetorical flourishes, adjectives, and descriptive sentences – that can be stripped out without compromising the powerful central message. I have every confidence that McShane will crush it. He’ll probably lock up a Guest Actor nomination at the Emmys with this episode.
Season 3, Episode 4 was called “And Now His Watch is Ended” and it was only a small portion of the episode. I don’t think that “Blood of My Blood” will be particulary focused on Dany.
Yes. I remember how “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken” was 5 minutes of Dorne. Targaryens didn’t overwhelm “Fire and Blood.” And the Greyjoys and ironborn didn’t overrun “What is Dead May Never Die.”
Luka Nieto: The Broken Man. Oh wow. Wow, wow, wow.
I squeeled so loud, at work, when I read that. I cannot wait for that speech.
Septon Meribald obviously with his Gravedigger speech
But also Wyman Manderly speech re RW to Davos one can hope as he decides to side with the Starks
Also think this relates to Jaimie, eg he’s broken with his hand, wonder if we’ll get both a Kingslaying flashback along with him confronting Blackfish, in this case Edmure Tully would also be a broken man after being in Walder Freys dungeon
Of course Theon is a broken man too, no idea what could happen regarding him, think he eventually is used to oppose Euron but it would be too quick, Euron is only just being introduced as is an end-game character, perhaps to replace Ramsay who in turn replaced Joffrey as the initial primary antagonist
I really really really really hope it isn’t Rickon who gets broken by Ramsay….Normally I’d say already seen that with Theon and it is pointless going over ground but given what happened with Sansa…
We might get confirmation of that before this episode, Dee!
According to spoilertv episode 3 pulled 7.28 – a hair down from E2’s 7.29 but essentially the same.
Which is great. Episode 2 and 3 has a higher rating then any episode of Season 5 minus the premiere/finale.
If I got that speech plus Manderly’s “The North Remembers” speech in the same season, I might pass out from happiness!
Luka Nieto: I mean… Jorah did use the phrase rather famously at the end of season one.
Ah. Well, that is strange. Maybe he’s pledging to give his life for hers even though he’s not an official bloodrider. I forgot that, obviously. Thank you. I can now see why everyone associates the line with him. Did he say that in the books, too?
Dany’s big episode is this week, I expect it to be one of the most expensive scene of the whole series. They took two weeks to film it like Daznak’s Pit.
Ginevra: “Blood of my blood” is what the bloodriders call their khal. They are considered blood-related even though they aren’t, and they would die for their khal. This phrase was said all of the time to Khaleesi when she wandered with her khal after Drogo died.
Most all book readers know this but thanks for the information. However as with almost all episodes the title can sometimes be misleading and many times have more than one meaning. So this could refer to both the Dothraki AND possibly Jon (fill in the blank) and family. Or something totally different.
Sue It wouldn’t hurt my feelings one bit to hear that wonderful actor give the full speech. But I do think they will trim it a bit around the edges.
For my vote, Blood of my Blood refers to Jon. That is what came to mind first and then Daeny. The Broken Man, first thing that came to mind was The Hound, so right on point with others and the Septon speech. THAT SAID: Theon is a very broken man. We don’t know where his story is going away from the books now.
Is it possible for Bran to have two flashbacks in episode 5? I wonder if he will appear in episode 4.
Do we have any guesses as to when the troupe will appear? I saw an article released in The Guardian yesterday about Essie, mentioning her upcoming GoT appearance, and I wondered if the timing could point to her appearance in Sunday’s episode.
My bear Jorah isn’t going anywhere, guys. The title refers to
Great titles. I’m in a way surprised the first one wasn’t used somehow already. Love the second one. Wow.
OMG I’m so glad someone else noticed this! Those pictures came out of her as a troupe member but for the longest time they had her character name blank (after the two you just mentioned). The only character that was left blank was Ian McShane (and we know they were trying to keep his character secret).
I dont know if its that reliable though, one day I saw that ep. 2 was titled “Homeward Bound” not “Home” and then it was changed. So someone updates it.
