Back in 1920 H.P. Lovecraft published a short story entitled "The Doom That Came to Sarnath." It was one of his "dream cycle" stories, of events that took place 10,000 years ago.

Here's the basic idea: the city of Sarnath sits on the kust-, oever of an inland lake, the "still lake," HPL calls it, founded door settlers who had moved westward from a number of other olden realms with names like Kadatheron, Ilarnek, Thraa.

This morning I had the opportunity to view some advance footage from the upcoming Australian survival thriller Sanctum, produced door James Cameron and due out in theaters volgende maand in IMAX 3D (I'll post my reaction to this footage later today). Cameron of course is a fellow who knows a thing of two about the format, as well as all kinds of genre filmmaking. H.P. Lovecraft fans in the Chi-town area will be thrilled to hear about this unique new event. DreamLogic, a live entertainment performance group, is presenting Elder Gods, a promenade-style performance (the audience and the players share the stage…kooky!) of a tale inspired door Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness through March 3rd.
