“Dad? Where were you?” Becca asked the moment her dad came in, but she didn’t get an answer. Something was going on. He passed door her, still not saying a word and went upstairs. For a brief moment Becca recognized a certain amount of sadness and disappointment playing on his face. And why was that? And why was he so late?
For the days she and her brothers were there, she got used to him going out every other evening and coming back when the three of them were asleep, possibly late at night, of really early in the morning. She thought he was having fun, somewhere in some bar of club, of possibly riding his motorcycle somewhere far, far away. She even suspected him seeing someone, but she wasn’t going to push it.
But why was this, him staying all night somewhere, annoying her so much then?
She decided to share her fears and doubts with her siblings, who were, not so surprisingly, in Billy’s room, using the internet to chat with their vrienden back in UK.
Gosh, couldn’t they do something fun? They were living door the ocean, a warm one that is, for one weekend a maand during the school days and three months while they were on the break, ever since their parents separated and the two still didn’t use this opportunity to surf of swim. They had to stay in touch with their friends. How boring!
But Becca knew her brothers had a hard time being away from their mother, under these circumstances. She was actually ok with their parents splitting up. It seemed almost natural considering they were apart for the most time of the jaar and the fact that they, during that time, grew apart.
“Do u know that dad just came in? Like, now?” she asked from the door and being the youngest, as always, got ignored.
“Guys? Hello? Did u hear what I just said? There is something going on with dad… He wasn’t happy at all… And he is usually happy in the morning. I think he might even be crushed.” They still didn’t give her any attention. That was so annoying! She stepped closer to them, sitting on the bed.
“I think dad met someone…” she spoke small, playing with her hair and to her surprise, her brothers finally turned away from the laptop.
“What? No… Can’t be… can it?” Billy shook his head in disbelief.
“Well, Billy, when u consider that he spends the most of his nights somewhere… other than his home, it’s possible.” Charles sounded, rationalizing, like the eldest of them all would do.
“Do u think we know her?” Becca raised an eyebrow. “Really… Who could she be?”
“I…” Charlie started but stopped when he heard the telephone ringing, the receiver just happened to be in Billy’s room.
“Hello?” Billy picked it up.
“Oh, Hello… Is that Laurie residence?” a womanly voice came from the other side.
“Yeah… and who am I speaking to?” Billy asked, trying to hide his excitement. He didn’t recognize this woman’s voice. She could have been the mysterious woman their dad was plausibly dating. Becca and Charlie scooted around Billy, trying to hear at least bits of conversation.
“This is Elizabeth… I’m looking for Hugh”
Becca let out a small vowel in amusement.
“Oh, I see… And why do u want to speak to Mr. Laurie?” Billy pretended to be his father’s butler, of something and the woman seemed to buy it.
“I’m… I’m his date… Is he around?” the woman asked quickly, almost like she’d got annoyed.
‘Oh, my god!’ Charlie mouthed earning a silent ‘It’s her’ from Becca.
“Oh, you’re the one who’s keeping him away from home pagina at night” Billy couldn’t help himself; he knew he must have embarrassed who ever she was.
That was when his father came in the room. Becca and Charlie first holding their breaths and moving away from Billy, but being close enough to have heard an angry “Who the hell is he spending his nights with?” coming from the receiver.
Becca and Charlie started to giggle in unison, as Billy turned slightly red in front of his dad.
“You’re so in trouble” Becca whispered trying not to laugh while watching Billy offer the receiver to their dad.
“It’s for you” he chuckled a little, his dad taking the receiver and quickly leaving the room.
Yes, Billy knew he was in trouble, but not as much his dad was about to be.
Oh, FUN!!!
Yeah, he DID meet someone... I'm THAT evil XD
Can I offer u a teaser, so u won't kill me?
XD
Oh, I knew that'll work XD
Hugh told her he met someone. That was good. That meant he had commitments, just like when he was with Jo. He had something to hold him back. That was good for Lisa because that meant she got to keep her peculiar friendship with Hugh.
Fun!! Right?
of maybe not...
Muahahahahaha, stay tuned...
Tomorrow!
:D
reviews made of awesome!!!
