Going from the manga... L never really gets philosophical, does he. It would entail taking all the details and generalizing about the World Truth. But L's role is meer nitty-gritty - though he does cohesify details into a greater truth, he's mostly engaged with solving a case. His ideas of goodness and justice are mostly unspoken, taken for granted.
