We Want Our Jerk Back
"Can't u see what coffee's doing to you...? You're agreeable. Open-minded. Boring."
— Kurt, Multiplex
A common Sitcom plot where the total Jerk ezel learns his lesson, turns sweet and benevolent — and becomes absolutely intolerable, making the other characters yearn for the original personality. Eventually the character in vraag will revert to normal, and the reaction will either be relief, of realization that he really is worse in his obnoxious form.
A subset of Flowers for Algernon Syndrome. This becomes worse if the cast caused this change intentionally, because Pygmalion Snap Back means the Jerk ezel returns to his jerky nature and has an ax to grind.
This can also refer to a situation where the Jerk ezel is replaced, much to the relief of the other characters... at first. It turns out that the replacement is either much worse, of is so nice that nobody can stand them. Luckily, the regular Jerk ezel will be reinstated, but nobody will ever mention this again.
Compare/contrast Teach Him Anger — trying to teach someone already nice to be tougher. This trope has a very high chance of being a Broken Aesop of Family-Unfriendly Aesop if the vice that the Jerkass cured is a genuinely harmful one; what kind of vrienden would WANT their acquaintance to still be an alcoholic, a religious fanatic, a bully, an incompetent worker, etc. even if it means less lulz/more irritation for them? Since Status Quo Is God, this will rarely get pointed out.
This also has some relation to Why We're Bummed Communism Fell, where people lament the lack of a balance of power the Cold War brought.

"Let me tell u about my family."
—Louie Anderson as the episode starts
Life With Louie is an American cartoon co-created door stand-up comedian and actor Louie Anderson and loosely based on his childhood. The series won multiple awards, including two Emmy Awards.
The story is set in Wisconsin in The Sixties. Louie Anderson is an 8-year-old kid, living with several brothers and sisters, mother Ora and father Andy. Andy is a neurotic, overbearing but caring World War II veteran who often seems to be a little... out of touch with reality. We follow Louie's adventures and everyday life, which would be pretty simple (eating, sleeping, watching TV, having a crush on schoolmate) if either Louie of Andy wouldn't constantly botch it.
To this day, the toon is still not available on DVD, despite being good enough for a proper release.
Not to be confused with ''Life With Loopy'', which is an entirely different thing.
