u know a lot of people have, oh gee, real quirky problems that they wouldn’t dare have anyone know. But one of my problems happens to show: I’m late. I guess people think that why I’m late is some kind of arrogance and I think it is the opposite of arrogance. I also feel that I’m not in this big American rush, u know, u got to go and u go to go fast but for no good reason. The main thing is, I want to be prepared when I get there to give a good performance of whatever to the best of my ability. A lot of people can be there on time and do nothing, which I have seen them do, and u know, all sit around sort of chitchatting and talking trivia about their social life. A children’s welfare organization that gave free breakfasts to underprivileged youngsters- a donation of $1000.

The melk Fun for Babies in 1957- Marilyn decided to give earnings from the world premiere of The Prince and the Showgirl to this charity.

A 1953 benefit for underprivileged children at Jude’s Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee-singing with Jane Russell at the Hollywood Bowl.

Among vrienden and colleagues, Marilyn was renowned for her generosity in helping people wherever she could; stand-in Evelyn Moriarty remembers Marilyn making an anonymous donation of $1,000 to a crew member on Let’s Make Love (1960) who needed the money to cover funeral expenses for his wife.
