The potential new Captain Marvel just got Captain America’s seal of approval.

As reported earlier this week, Brie Larson, the Oscar-winning actress of

, the female-headlined superhero film from Disney’s Marvel Studios. Like many of her fans out there, Chris Evans really hopes this happens.

. I cannot say enough about Brie Larson. I think she is phenomenal, and I really hope that happens.”

Sources close to the Marvel film confirmed to EW that Larson is the likely choice for the role, barring any major upset during casting discussions. The film centers on Carol Danvers, an American security officer whose DNA is fused with that of the alien Kree race. She’ll be one of the new characters in Marvel’s Phase Three film slate, which includes Benedict Cumberbatch’s

, which doesn’t yet have a director, is currently scheduled for release on March 8, 2019.
