Griff the Invisible is a 2010 film. The film deals with a lot of superhero-related material, so while it is a superhero film, it's not a serious action film and it isn't based on any comic book superheroes. Instead, it has drama, romance, and comedy.

The Plot

Griff is a man, who seems average, if somewhat meek, during the day. He's quiet and doesn't get along well with others. He only has one person he regularly socializes with and gets along with, named Tim. Most people consider Griff to be weird and off-putting. However, during the night, he puts on a superhero costume and tries to fight crimes around his area. Griff becomes interested in making an invisible suit. Tim's girlfriend, Melody, is an eccentric woman. Due to her and Griff both having a creative and odd sense of imagination, they form a close bond. However, this puts Melody's relationship with Tim and Tim's tolerance of Griff at risk. Also, Griff and Melody have a different opinion from other people, about what counts as reality and what counts as fiction.

Griff the Invisible is a one-of-a-kind superhero film. It doesn't involve fighting a super-villain of the typical superhero tropes that people come to expect. Griff the Invisible is such a creative and different film, that it kept me fascinated throughout. Very few superhero films are as unpredictable as this one. Although the film has some dramatic elements, it's not depressing of intense. Instead, it's actually a very sweet story about Griff and Melody, two delightfully eccentric people. The film has writing that's not just unusual for a superhero film. It's an unusual film, in general. Weird, imaginative, and something very special.

The Cast

The film features a cast of actors and actresses, that I wasn't familiar with before watching the film. However, I quickly became a fan of their acting. All of the main and supporting characters are very well cast. The leads, Ryan Kwanten and Maeve Dermody, both give charming, unique performances.

The Characters

The characters are eccentric and interesting, just like the plot itself. Griff is a strong protagonist. Although he's not as heroic as a superhero should be, he's a sympathetic and oddly likeable individual. His imagination reminds me of Alice from Alice in Wonderland. Melody is around the same level of eccentric. In fact, she might be even stranger than he is. They have arguably the most memorable and entertaining romantic relationship in any superhero film. It's sweet, creative, and silly, and who could ask for a better relationship than that?

Tim serves as the voice of reason to both Griff and Melody. However, he also provides a lot of the film's best comedy. Tony, one of Griff's co-workers, serves as the antagonist, who is easy to root against, although he brings some entertaining dark comedy to the film.

The Visuals

Unlike other superhero films, this film doesn't have a bunch of action-packed scenes, so this film lacks the visual spectacle from other superhero films. However, the film is still pleasant to look at and Griff's superhero costume is unique and well-designed. A nice visual touch is that Griff has superhero action figures in his apartment. Since the toys are in the background, it's hard to tell which toys are in the film, but it was still a cool addition to the film.

globaal, algemene

Griff the Invisible seems to be invisible among movie-watchers. It's a hidden gem of the film that's worth checking out. I recommend the film to lovers of romance, superheroes, and delightfully-odd films.

Reko Moreno
Latino actor REKO MORENO is anything but cursed. But, in the indie film “Bless Me, Ultima,” currently playing in theaters, Reko brings the cursed Uncle Lucas to life. Twilight trailer
Twilight trailer
Now that the full trailer for 'The Twilight Saga's' newest installment is here, we can't help but notice the similarities between the previews for 2008's 'Twilight,' last year's sequel 'New Moon' and the upcoming summer release, 'Eclipse.'

Each trailer includes sweeping shots of the Pacific Northwest (Oh, was this filmed on location?), faux-sexual tension between the leads illustrated with a shot of Edward getting all up in Bella's grill (so to speak), and piano muziek transitioning into thumping bas, bass to introduce the supernatural (thanks, 'Harry Potter' trailers).

Are the 'Twilight' editors using...
