, which starred Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, and Taron Egerton and earned more than $35 million when it opened last February against some stiff competition from 

. The action-comedy went on to make almost $415 million worldwide.

EW confirmed Matthew Vaughn will return to direct the sequel, which is scheduled for a June 16, 2017 release.

 will further chronicle the exploits of Egerton’s Gary “Eggsy” Unwin, an erstwhile London hooligan who has been trained in the art of heroics by a secret spy organization. 

While there’s no word just yet on Tatum’s role, other casting rumors could help shed a light on it. Elton John is reportedly also in talks to join the movie in a role Vaughn has apparently been envisioning for a while: He told ABC News Radio last year that he wanted the Grammy winner to appear in the the first 

 movie, for “a whole fun subplot about celebrities being kidnapped.”

Vaughn continued, “I had an idea of, ‘Who’s the worst celebrity you’d want to have locked in a cell?’ And I came up with Elton John, and having Elton John throwing these huge tantrums. And then I wanted to do an action scene of Elton John kicking the living daylights out of people.”

The Fox production has also hinted that Firth will be back as well, despite the fact that — spoiler alert — his character appeared to meet an untimely end in the first film.
