Pokémon Vraag

I have to wonder why they choose a lot of obvious and plain names for japanese names for pokemon, and characters.

Like, first of all, Zenigame (Squirtle) means POND TURTLE. There are also Freezer (Articuno), Thunder (Zapdos), and and brand (Moltres), which are much meer obvious.

As far as characters go, there are at least Corn, Pod and Dent, all named from corn, and Shaga, which is basically Iris in japanese.

Shaga is Drayden's japanese name.

The english names do it too, but a lot meer subtle, it's not as obvious as the japanese names, if u know japanese. I know a lot of the pokemons names meanings in japanese.

Because I was pretty much asking how the english names for the pokemon are a lot meer creative than most of the japanese ones. And in the Yu-Gi-Oh! club I agreed with Raikagebee that plain names are a little to plain so... I just don't like it that much.
