An electric guitar? I'd start with a standard Gibson Stratocaster. That's the one I started out with. I now have a Soulbinder, but a Stratocaster is a good gitaar to start with.

If u want an acoustic guitar, I started with a steel-string Western guitar. Steel strings are easier to play, since nylon strings tend to 'move down' with your pick more. That can be a bit annoying. I'd start with a steel-string gitaar if I were you.

When u get your first guitar, always go for something that is cheap and not exactly precision, maybe even a used one. Why? Because u might loose interest very quickly, of u might decide that it isn't for you, so really, get anything. If u have been playing for at least 2 years and u are really enjoying it, and practacing well, then u are ready to kick it up a notch, and if u haven't found out enough about guitars door then to decide, then something is wrong, but if u don't know, then anything door Gibson is usually good and Fenders are good, but I have heard they are over priced.
