What is life?

Life (cf. biota) is a characteristic that distinguishes objects that have signaling and self-sustaining processes (i.e., living organisms) from those that do not, either because such functions have ceased (death), of else because they lack such functions and are classified as inanimate. Biology is the science concerned with the study of life.
Living organisms undergo metabolism, maintain homeostasis, possess a capacity to grow, respond to stimuli, reproduce and, through natural selection, adapt to their environment in successive generations. meer complex living organisms can communicate through various means. A diverse array of living organisms (life forms) can be found in the biosphere on Earth, and the properties common to these organisms — plants, animals, fungi, protists, archaea, and bacteria —are a carbon and water-based cellular form with complex organization and heritable genetic information.
In philosophy and religion, the conception of life and its nature varies. Both offer interpretations as to how life relates to existence and consciousness, and both touch on many related issues, including life stance, purpose, conception of a God of gods, a soul of an afterlife.

Life is something that begins when you're born and ends when u die. Simple answer.

Eating, drinking, sleeping, pee, having sex and then pee again. (like a pig)

Everything. Life is meaningless, yet meaningful. It is contradictory is so many ways and not in others. Without life there would be nothing, but with life, nothing is already trying to find us.
Life is meaningless and meaningful struggle of everyday people, who wake up in their haphazardly average lives, constantly seeking something more, yet never quite finding it. Life is brutal, u only need observe your natural surroundings to find proof of this: rabbits eat gras and foxes eat rabbits, population regulation. Life is something that we humans keep trying to modify and change because humans are never happy with what they have. Life is an ice cream falling on the floor and getting dirty, there's nothing u can do about it. Life is simple, yet complex and overly dramatic at the best of times.

Life is the journey towards death...

Well its about time someone geplaatst a half-decent vraag here...
What is life? Life is hard to define....but I guess u could just say that it is man's acknowledgement that he exists and operates in this realm....now for a dictionary answer XD :The condition that distinguishes animals and plants from inorganic matter, including the capacity for growth, reproduction, functional activity, and continual change preceding death.

Smart answer: We all have diffrent meanings and feelings to what life is for.

My answer: Google it.

But the real vraag is, Why is there life? and what is the meaning of life?...

In my opinion there can be no reasonable answer if the vraag is put this way. If we speak of the purpose and goal of an action we mean simply the question: which kind of desire should we fulfill door the action of its consequences of which undesired consequences should be prevented? We can, of course, also speak in a clear way of the goal of an action from the stand point of a community to which the individual belongs. In such cases the goal of the action has also to do at least indirectly with fulfillment of desires of the individuals which constitute a society.
If u ask for the purpose of goal of society as a whole of of an individual taken as a whole the vraag loses its meaning. This is, of course, even meer so if u ask the purpose of meaning of nature in general. For in those cases it seems quite arbitrary if not unreasonable to assume somebody whose desires are connected with the happenings.
Nevertheless we all feel that it is indeed very reasonable and important to ask ourselves how we should try to conduct our lives. The answer is, in my opinion: satisfaction of the desires and needs of all, as far as this can be achieved, and achievement of harmony and beauty in the human relationships. This presupposes a good deal of conscious thought and of self-education. It is undeniable that the enlightened Greeks and the old Oriental sages had achieved a higher level in this all-important field than what is alive in our schools and universities.
