Game of Thrones Season 4 has become the fastest-selling television box set in a decade.
The adaption of George R R Martin’s fantasy novel series sold more than 157,000 copies in the UK in the last week, entering the chart at number one.
According to the Official Charts Company, it is now the fastest-selling box set since Little Britain – the Complete First Season in 2004, which sold 224,000 in its first week.
DVD sales of the fourth season of Game of Thrones are now likely to significantly outstrip the third series, after selling 7,000 copies more this week.
It is not the first time the show, starring Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Alfie Allen and Peter Dinklage, has broken records. In 2013, it set a new level for internet piracy after being downloaded by hundreds of thousands of fans in the 24 after it aired on HBO.

The first episode will be unveiled at the Tower of London next month; the first time a world premiere of the show has been held in Europe.
Elsewhere in the charts, Ellie Goulding’s Love Me Like You Do – featured in the film Fifty Shades of Grey – held on to number one for the third week running with a combined chart sales figure of 118,000.
According to data from the Official Charts Company, Love Me Like You Do was also the most streamed track of the week and set a new UK all-time audio streaming record with 2.58 million listens in the last seven days.
The previous record holder was Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk FT Bruno Mars with a tally of 2.56 million.
