How to make a accurate fan character
Introduction:Hello,congratulations,you want to enter the world of sonic fan characters,GOOD SHOW!!!Now I know what your thinking,there is a bunghole of other fan character guide lines generated door other fans.but I refer to this one as the most updated version.(as of 7/4/12)
RULE 1:POWER AND DEFENSE
Now u want to generate a equal fan character,equal as in power-wise(If he/she/it has powers).If u make it to powerful without weaknesses and make it the "Oh,I'm so powerful,fear mah almighty immortality" character,then its considered a "Gary-stu" and u DON'T want a "gary-stu".you can make it powerful,but you'll have to give it weaknesses.originally,I made this mistake with my character,made it unnecessary powerful without weakness,but later I decided to add a weak point and lower his defense,now if u want a defensive character,dial back on the power.people may not want to RP(Role Play) with u if u have a "gary-stu."
RULE 2:RELATIONSHIPS WITH OFFICIAL CHARACTERS
Now every fan character can have a love interest,but there is several boundaries.if u generate a love interest for your fan character,these boundaries do not apply,but if your character does have a love interest with a official character(official as in a character that is copywrited door sega,archie's,or dic)then these boundaries DO apply.however,you can ignore the boundaries if u make a alternate copy official character,because then it would be a fan character,a "Alternate copy" is like a recolor(Will be explained shortly).If u try to forge u character of do something official under sega's nose,you may get sued.
RULE 3: RECOLORS
This rule is pretty basic,some people DON'T like recolors,so people DO.so what I can say is if u plan on posting a recolor on fanpop,post it at the "Sonic fan character recolor" club.pretty basic.
